Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – Lockpicking Guide
Are you going to let a simple lock stop you from your dreams?
Committing crimes in video games can sound amusing since there are no real-life repercussions, but that’s not the case with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The game places a strong emphasis on the weight of your actions, illustrating that even the smallest choices can lead to significant outcomes, making every decision feel meaningful and impactful.
How Do Crimes Work?
When you hear the word “crimes,” you can probably think of a few examples, but what exactly qualifies as a crime in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2? There are quite a few, just like in real life.
- Killing innocents, stealing, breaking into other people’s houses, trespassing, harming people or domestic animals, and disrupting their lives are all considered crimes in the game.
Before you decide to commit any of these, you might want to reconsider.
Each of these actions has a negative impact on you. If you’re caught, people will either report you to the guards or confront you directly.
If you still choose to commit a crime, make sure no one sees you. However, that doesn’t guarantee you’re safe. If you steal something, a random guard might stop you for a search, and if they find stolen goods on you, you’ll be caught.
Crimes affect your reputation badly, and in turn, your reputation influences how people react to and treat you.
For example, if someone dislikes you, they might refuse to serve or even speak to you. On the other hand, if people like you, they may speak to you kindly, trade with you, and even give you discounts.
What Options Do You Have After Committing A Crime?
If you’re caught and the guards confront you, you’ll have a few options to pay for your crimes.
The first option is simple: pay a fine to redeem yourself to the guards. But if you don’t have enough money, you’ll need to consider the other options.
You could try to convince the guards of your innocence, but this will depend on your Speech level. If it’s high, you can talk your way out of trouble, but if not, that leads us to the next option.
Running away is always an option when committing crimes, but does it mean you’re safe? Not quite. You’ll be attacked on sight by guards and even some civilians.
And even if you manage to escape, if you return to town, they’ll recognize you sooner or later, unless you redeem yourself.
The last option is to accept the punishment if you have no money. Depending on the severity of your crime, the punishment can vary.
What Punishments Are There When You Commit A Crime?
There are four types of punishments you could receive:
- Pillory: You’ll spend a few days in the pillory, facing humiliation, which will make it difficult to interact with people for some time.
- Caning: This punishment affects your health, making you weaker for a period of time.
- Branding: This is where things get serious. The executioner will brand your neck, marking you as a criminal. With this mark, people will despise you and treat you like the criminal you are.
- Execution: The most extreme punishment, reserved for the worst crimes, leading to your death.
The best way to avoid all of this is to keep your nose clean, pay your fines when you make a mistake, and try to be good to people.
