Death Stranding 2: On The Beach remains shrouded in an opaque veil of mystery. We know that The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus reprises his role as Sam Porter Bridges and that the ever-iconic Elle Fanning joins the cast as Tomorrow, while Troy Baker stars as Higgs Monaghan, the games primary antagonist. We know that the announcement trailer was suitably odd. And now we know that the game has been rated in South Korea, likely hinting that new information will be dropping soon.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach isn’t exactly easy to get your head around. It takes place immediately after the events of the original open-world game, and trailers hint at alternate realities, time travel, and even more mind-bending chaos. What we do know, however, is that Sam sometimes seems to be sporting gray hair, and he looks pretty damn good for it.
The Death Stranding 2 release date is currently unknown, we’ve only got the trailer below which, while lengthy, probably raises more questions than answers. But the sequel has just been rated in South Korea, perhaps hinting that there’s something lurking just over the horizon.
Judged “not suitable for minors,” Death Stranding 2 is summarized as “an adventure game about delivering parcels across a post-apocalyptic world and connecting cities to save humanity” (note that the rating has been machine translated by Google). There’s excessive violence, vulgar language, and drug use – the works. I just hope someone’s covering poor little Lou’s eyes and ears.
But, while the rating isn’t too exciting in itself, it perhaps signals something. With rumors that 2025’s first PlayStation State of Play is set for sometime next week (w/c February 10), combined with a cryptic X post from Hideo Kojima showing his “editing desk” and what looks like a screenshot of a new trailer, it’s pretty clear that we’re going to see something soon.
