Dead by Daylight developers from publisher Behaviour Interactive have named a few horror icons they would love to see added to the game as characters, including the 2022 doll M3GAN and legendary horror writer Stephen King, the man behind the novels It and The Shining. Dead by Daylight recently added the new killer The Houndmaster, which is the first-ever Killer with an AI-controlled companion, and Survivor Taurie Cain, as part of the Doomed Course chapter.
The asymmetric multiplayer survival horror first debuted in 2016 by the Canadian developer, pitting one Killer against four Survivors with the villain’s goal to sacrifice each Survivor to the Entity. Dead by Daylight recently launched a new Resident Evil crossover, which is a fantastic addition for horror fans and film lovers anticipating the mysterious reboot of the movie franchise said to be helmed by Barbarian director Zach Cregger.

Dead by Daylight’s upcoming Character Trials may allow players to get a taste of the game’s large roster and determine which DLC to purchase.
In an interview with TheGamer, game director and head of partnerships Mathieu Côté was asked which horror franchise he would like to work with in the future, and the dev had a surprising answer. “I would love to get Stephen King himself in our game because he’s written himself in many of his stories as a character,” Côté explained, who would join some of Dead by Daylight’s best survivors, including Nicolas Cage, Lara Croft, and Leon Scott Kennedy. Côté noted King’s aversion to video games in general, and therefore, the director believed the writer’s involvement in the survival horror was “probably never going to happen.” Additionally, Côté mentioned that he and creative director, Dave Richards, had spent quite a bit of time talking about King.

Senior game designer Jean Escalante also told TheGamer another character the team would like to join the roster, and it’s a new icon within the horror genre. “I’ve never seen the movie, so it’s silly that I bring it up, but I really want to see M3GAN in DbD,” Escalante admitted, referencing the doll introduced in Gerard Johnstone’s sci-fi horror. Akela Cooper and James Wan, the director behind The Conjuring franchise, created the character, and the film follows what would happen if an artificially intelligent doll developed self-awareness and became hostile. M3GAN would join another popular doll on the roster, and Chucky received a brand-new Charred skin last year in Dead by Daylight to turn the killer more menacing.
Dead by Daylight recently treated fans to a new February update, and the patch included several bug fixes and additions to continue players’ exciting new year of gameplay. The update renewed The Nightmare, added Black Box effects, and previewed the return of 2v8 mode with new characters and maps. Imbalances, unfair advantages, and smoother gameplay transitions were included in the bug fixes, alongside a special fix for The Nightmare’s playstyle targeting VFX when teleporting.
