What Is The Chemistry System?
While love can blossom under any circumstances, chemistry can make or break the first impression. Sims with similar interests are likely to get along, but every sim has traits they look for in a partner.
Sims can scope out a room with the self-interaction to look around for potential partners. The sims your current sim find attractive might start to glow, or your sim will think of them and even react to just being around them.
There are five levels of attraction, ranging from a crossed out lightning bolt that symbolizes being repulsed to three lightning strikes that emphasize the literal sparks between them.
How Do Turn-Ons And Turn-Offs Work?
In Create A Sim, you can assign turn-ons and turn-offs to sims that are teens, adults, or elders. These are the unique traits that will make a potential partner more attractive to your sim. From hair color to skills and employment status, you can diversify your household with a variety of tastes.
Sims will suffer in compatibility if they try to flirt with someone who turns them off, but it’s not impossible to make things work. The difference is that it will be harder to build a romantic relationship and maintain it as opposed to a relationship where chemistry is good.
Gender, age, and skin color do not impact chemistry or turn-ons/offs. However, teens will only be attracted to teens.
How To Tell If Two Sims Are Compatible
There are several ways to tell if your sims are compatible, and not all of them are clear right away. We’ve outlined them below so you can design star-crossed lovers, high school sweethearts, or two very incompatible people.
Star Sign Compatibility
Sims with the same star sign won’t be affected by it, though there are benefits and drawbacks to different signs. Below are the different star signs and their preferences designated by the celestial bodies.
For the sake of the table, the compatibility is framed from a one-sided perspective towards another sim.

Aspiration Compatibility
It’s no surprise that your sim’s lifetime goal and aspirations impact their romantic prospects. Some sims will align more together than others, such as those who want romance and pleasure versus those who would prefer to build a family and make the best grilled cheese sandwiches.
If two sims are aligned in their lifetime desires, that can make them a compatible couple for the long-term. Of course, there’s no need to settle down. Wandering sim spouses can find fulfillment elsewhere or change their aspirations later on with some help.
Wishing For Beauty
As a last resort, your sim can wish for beauty from a genie to make them more attractive to other sims for a short time. This is a foolproof plan, so long as the genie doesn’t deceive you.
However, it won’t last forever, so make sure to flirt and seduce your desired partner before the wish wears off and they go back to being unimpressed with your sim’s lackluster appearance, personality or traits.
