A Baldur’s Gate 3 fan recently released a brand-new custom campaign that recreates the first part of the Forsaken starting zone from World of Warcraft in the CRPG. Though it currently only contains the Deathknell region, this Baldur’s Gate 3 mod is intended to be a part of a full campaign inspired by WoW’s iconic Forsaken.
Patch 7 of Baldur’s Gate 3 introduced a slew of official modding tools that have drastically increased the scope of the custom content players can make for the 2023 Game of the Year. Baldur’s Gate 3’s Patch 8 Could Cause Serious Problems for Mods
Although the upcoming Patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is set to bring significant new content to the game, it will also compromise its biggest mods.
However, one Baldur’s Gate 3 modder is using these tools to bring part of World of Warcraft to the game. Forsaken is a Baldur’s Gate 3 mod made by SquallyDaBeanz that brings Deathknell and the surrounding valley from the first part of the Forsaken starting zone in World of Warcraft to the CRPG. Players emerge in the Shadow Grave before being led to Deathknell, after which they reclaim the local blacksmith from the undead, gold mine from spiders, and critical documents from Scarlet Crusaders – just like in the MMO. According to Veteran Joystick, who showcased the mod on YouTube, the intro scenario takes about an hour to complete and will bring characters up to level 2.
WoW-Inspired Forsaken Campaign Mod in Baldur’s Gate 3
The campaign does not add any new companions to the game, as it is meant to be completed either solo or with other players. That said, fans can summon Baldur’s Gate 3 Hirelings from a sarcophagus near where they spawn if they need backup. World of Warcraft players will recognize dialogue, enemies and NPCs, and quest names and rewards, as they are directly pulled from the Forsaken starting experience. While it does not have native functionality to play undead characters yet, other Baldur’s Gate 3 mods like Ghastly Ghouls can easily allow fans to create fitting Forsaken characters.
In the future, SquallyDaBeanz plans to add tons of new features to the mod. Skill checks, better AI and difficulty settings, and improved dialogue and quests are just a few of the many mechanics they hope to implement down the road. What’s more, this is only the first part of a larger project; the next major release will include all of the Tirisfal Glades as Act 1, with future plans that they are not ready to talk about. One day, this campaign could even go into other Forsaken areas beyond the World of Warcraft starting zone, like Silverpine Forest or Hillsbrad Foothills.

There is currently no timetable for this custom campaign. SquallyDaBeanz is currently focusing on finishing their Act Two Expansion mod, which bridges the gap between the Shadow Cursed Lands and Baldur’s Gate during the second act of Baldur’s Gate 3, before continuing Forsaken, so interested fans should be sure to keep an eye on that mod as well.
