Nothing is off the table in The Sims 2, especially not when it comes to what type of sims you can control. Beyond the standard ‘human’ sims are various occult sims, like vampires, werewolves, and plantsims. You can devise a plan to play as one, which may even fulfill your sim’s deepest desires.

Give your sims a post-secondary education for a better future, or just go to the parties. It’s your college experience.

How do you get an occult sim? We’ve outlined everything you need to know below so you can start shaking things up in your sim’s neighborhood. There’s no need to stop at just one occult sim either–try mixing and matching for the perfect family in The Sims 2!

What Are Occult Sims?

While most sims are normal, there are those that are otherwise unique. We call these occult sims–those that aren’t as ‘human’ as the rest. These tend to be supernatural beings, though they can be mythological creatures, specters, or extraterrestrials.

Occult sims keep things interesting. Some have different needs than the average sim or special interactions that other sims don’t have access to. If you need to spice up your household, you can’t go wrong with an occult sim.

All Playable Occult Sims

Many occult sims are playable. Adding them to your household takes a bit of work most times, as some occult sims are only created after death or a chance encounter with another occult sim.

We’ve outlined all the occult sims below and how to get them so you can experience what it’s like to live a completely different life, from vampirism to plantsimism.

How To Become A Vampire

Vampire sims are made when the Grand Vampire bites them, or if another lesser vampire does the job. You’re likely to find a Grand Vampire out and about at night in the downtown area.

Vampire sims will grow fangs and develop red eyes, start to smoke when exposed to sunlight, and become incredibly pale. They can also transform into a bat to move around instead of walk.

If you’re tired of being a vampire, procuring a dose of Vamprocillin-D from the Matchmaker will cure the desired sim.

How To Become A Werewolf

To become a werewolf, your sim must be bitten by the leader of the pack. This is a large wolf with glowing yellow eyes that only appears at night by chance. When you see this intimidating dog, make sure to approach and befriend it.

After your sim has been bitten, the transformation will take place over a few days. Then, at night, your sim will fully emerge as a werewolf. In this form, they can howl and use the ‘savage’ action to pass lycanthropy to other sims.

You can use cheats to get the leader of the pack to appear, but even then the controls are finicky.

To cure a werewolf sim, purchase a bottle of Lycanthropic-B potion from the obedience trainer or the Matchmaker and consume it.

How To Become A Witch Or Warlock

The only way to become a witch or warlock is to befriend one and ask them to teach you the ways of good or evil. These sims have distinctive sparkles around them and wear robes, so they’re easy to spot on community lots. These sims can use a cauldron and spellbook to make some magic!

Witches and warlocks can be either Good, Neutral, or Evil, depending on their practices. They can also summon a spectral cat as their familiar and visit special secret lots exclusive to the witches and warlocks of the neighborhood.

How To Become A Zombie

The only way to become a zombie is to die. Another sim who’s obtained the Resurrect-O-Nomitron can call the Grim Reaper and request a revival. The cost is steep, and if you offer too few Simoleons, he might leave you with nothing.

Offering between 1,000 to 4,000 Simoleons will be just enough for the Grim Reaper to consider your request and do a half-baked job. Rather than revive your dearly departed loved one fully, they’ll come back as a zombie.

Zombies are just like standard sims, though they move a lot slower. They’ll never age and there’s no cure, though teenage zombies can earn a scholarship and go to college (which will make them adults after graduation).

How To Become A Plantsim

If your sim loves gardening, then they’re familiar with pesticides. After spraying pesticide on multiple plants and trees, there’s a small chance that your sim will be transformed into a Plantsim.

Plantsims make great gardeners, and they have significantly less needs than other sims. They only need water, love, and sunlight to thrive. The drawback is that their lives are considerably shorter than the average sim.

This is because they don’t have a child or teen stage, and thus cannot go to college.

Plantsims are unique in that they can reproduce asexually, cloning themselves to create a Plantbaby toddler. They can also have children by WooHooing, though the resulting child is disappointingly not a Plantsim.

To cure a Plantsim, have them consume a Plantophic-C potion from the Garden Club or Matchmaker.

How To Make A Servo

A servo waving outside the house.

Servos are special sims that are engineered by your standard sims, though they have different needs. They’re considered to be robots and can be constructed at the Robot Crafting Station once a sim obtains a Gold Talent Badge in Robotics.

They cost 3,000 Simoleons to make, and about half a day to fully construct. After the Servo is built, you can assign the gender at activation and name it. The Servo will have its own personality, aspirations, and wants while becoming a member of the family based on whomever activates it.

Servos can be sold for a profit, but not after being activated.

How To Make A Mannequin Sim

Two mannequin sims in Create A Sim.

Mannequin sims are only playable via cheats. To unlock this type of sim, you’ll need to make them in Create A Sim after using the following cheat to access more options: ‘boolprop testingcheatsenabled true’.

Enter the Create A Sim menu and use Shift+N to unlock debugging mode. Make a new sim and access the additional skin tone options. Grey makes a mannequin, giving your sim a pale white appearance. In almost all other regards, they are a normal sim.

Mannequin sims can get pregnant, but the game may crash when giving birth as there is no file for infant mannequin skin!

If you want a mannequin to be a parent, try adopting.

How To Find Alien Sims

A family of aliens and human sims mixed together, with the parents talking outside.

Aliens can be created or born. You can use the Shift+N cheat in Create A Sim to access the green skin tone and black eyes, but they won’t have the same heritage that other aliens might have.

If you want natural aliens, you’ll need to have a male sim be abducted by aliens. Once taken by the Pollination Technicians, there’s a chance your male sim will come back pregnant with a little alien baby.

Your sim can be abducted by using the Farstar e3 telescope (the expensive one), though the chances are incredibly low. Even then, the child will only be an alien hybrid.

You can also use cheats to make any adult sim pregnant with an alien, though the technicians tend to only pollinate men.

All Non-Playable Occult Sims

In addition to the playable occult sims that make life more interesting, there are several non-playable occult sims that keep you on your toes. Below are all of the ones you can encounter and how to find them.

How To Find Ghosts And The Grim Reaper

The Grim Reaper assessing a sim's death.

When your sim dies, they can become a ghost. They’ll no longer be playable, but they can haunt your lot and torment your other sims–especially if they died unhappily.

Meanwhile, the Grim Reaper only appears to harvest the soul of the dead, though you can give him a phone call to try and revive the dead using special aspiration rewards.

When on vacation to the mountains, there’s a chance you’ll encounter Bigfoot. He’s located on a secret lot in Three Lakes, so you will need to do a bit of searching to find him.

To unlock the lot, you need to dig for treasure, hike around the mountains, or find the map in a pirate ship. Once you find the Hidden Burrow secret lot, you’ll meet Bigfoot, the Sasquatch.

By building a friendship with him, you can gain his trust and ask him to move in with you before your vacation ends. A new Bigfoot will replace the old one when they move out, so you can always find more.

Bigfoot cannot get married or have children, but he can get a job.

How To Find A Genie

The matchmaker will bring a dusty old lamp to your doorstep when at least one sim in the household has a high Lifetime Aspiration and enthusiasm for one of their hobbies. Even children can receive the lamp as a gift.

You can use the lamp for three wishes or you can sell it, but it’s well worth thinking carefully about. When you rub the lamp, the genie will appear and offer you several choices:

Wish

Result

Give Me Wealth

On success: A large bag of Simoleons will drop nearby, containing 10,000 Simoleons. Money will continue to rain down over time up to a total of 22,000 Simoleons.

On fail: No money fall from the sky, but there’s a higher chance of burglary over the next couple of days. Invest in an alarm!

Give Me Beauty

On success: Offers the same effect as a love potion, making the sim more attractive to all other appropriate-aged sims for several days.

On fail: No boon, but sims will constantly ring your doorbell.

Give Me A Long Life

On success: Adds four days to a sim’s life.

On fail: Shortens a sim’s life by three hours.

Give Me Power To Cheat Death

On success: Allows the wishing sim to beg for their own life upon death, with successful attempts granting them one more day to live. This can be done multiple times, but the chance of failure increases.

On fail: The wishing sim won’t be able to save themselves from death, and you won’t know until it’s time.

Give Me Peace Of Mind

On success: This gives your sim a permanent Platinum mood, enabling them to go about their lives happy as a clam.

On fail: Things around the house will break often.
