World of Warcraft has shared an official preview of the Cartels of Undermine, the new Renown faction coming in Patch 11.1. Consisting of four different iconic Goblin cartels – with a secret fifth one waiting in the wings – this World of Warcraft faction promises a variable, exciting approach to increasing Renown and earning rewards in the next update.
Patch 11.1, aptly titled Undermined, takes World of Warcraft players to the underground Goblin metropolis of Undermine. While there, the heroes of Azeroth will make new allies and reunite with old ones as they attempt to thwart the schemes of Xal’atath and Gallywix.

World of Warcraft Patch 11.1 is adding several new items that could be game-changers for fans who enjoy roleplaying and immersion in the MMORPG.
Among them, the Cartels of Undermine promise to be some of the most important friends fans will make in the next update, and World of Warcraft recently released a blog detailing how this Patch 11.1 Renown faction will work. Each week, players will sign a contract with one of the four major cartels: Monte Gazlowe’s Bilgewater, Marin Noggenfogger’s Steamwheedle, Baron Revilgaz’s Blackwater, or a group of the Venture Co. led by Grimla Fizzlecrank. Like the Pact system from WoW: The War Within’s Severed Threads Renown faction, choosing one faction will influence the available activities in Undermine and allow one to focus on gaining reputation with that cartel – increasing their global Cartels of Undermine Renown in the process.

Of course, no Renown faction would be complete without a lot of new rewards to collect. By raising their global Renown, fans can earn Valorstones, Crests, Profession recipes, and transmogs, plus upgrades for several overworld activities like S.C.R.A.P. and the C.H.E.T.T. List. The Topskimmer Special rocket mount and “The Explosive” title await players who reach Renown 19 and 20 respectively – not to mention all the other rewards from each of the four cartel’s individual reputation vendors as well.

Were this not exciting enough, World of Warcraft also teased a secret fifth cartel to be discovered later, though details on how that will work are currently unknown. While it has not yet been officially confirmed, evidence suggests this group could be Darkfuse Solutions – the private security firm employed by Gallywix – assuming the mercenaries have a change of heart after the self-styled Chrome King’s defeat in the Liberation of Undermine raid.
Fans can begin gaining reputation with the Cartels of Undermine once Patch 11.1 releases. Though it has not been given an official day yet, many suspect February 18 or 25 as the most likely start date due to the schedules for active WoW events like the Turbulent Timeways and Plunderstorm. Either way, players can expect an official announcement on the Undermined launch date very soon.
