World of Warcraft Executive Producer Teases Player Housing Updates and More

The executive producer of World of Warcraft recently released a WoW State of the Game that teased several new features, including social integration, new player and roleplaying tools, and Player Housing updates. While the letter itself did not reveal too much information, World of Warcraft fans can expect to hear more soon.

The Lunar New Year has come and gone, meaning World of Warcraft is about to start rushing down its ambitious roadmap for 2025. Before the end of the year, fans can expect two major content updates and Player Housing for modern WoW, Mists of Pandaria for Classic, and likely even World of Warcraft’s second Remix event with Legion.

Now, World of Warcraft has pulled back the curtain on a few other things players can look forward to. World of Warcraft executive producer Holly Longdale recently shared a WoW State of the Game reflecting on 2024, and looking forward to 2025. While much of the heartfelt letter treads on familiar ground, there are a few pieces of new information scattered throughout – and among them, one of the most exciting updates is that World of Warcraft is dropping info about Player Housing the same day the blog was shared.

The new player experience is also something World of Warcraft is planning to work on. Longdale said there is no quick fix for it, so the project that began in Shadowlands with Exile’s Reach will continue into Midnight, The Last Titan, and beyond. She also teased several other new features Blizzard hopes to implement, including rewards for positive behavior like Overwatch 2’s Endorsement system, easier ways to connect with like-minded fans, and more tools for roleplayers in World of Warcraft.

Another of the more interesting things Longdale mentioned was integration with social media platforms the community often uses. In Warlords of Draenor, Blizzard added Twitter integration, though the feature was ultimately removed from World of Warcraft in early 2023 due to API policy changes on the site. Fans will have to wait and see which social platforms are the subject of this integration, and if it will be more popular and successful than the Twitter integration was.

Longdale also confirmed World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery isn’t ending with Phase 7, despite the fact that the update was supposed to be its last one. Players can expect to hear more about what’s next for Season of Discovery, other forms of Classic, and modern WoW over the next few months.
