A lot of important items in Resident Evil 2 Remake are needed to access new areas and move forward with the main missions. That being said, there are a lot of optional things that can be found that simply give you more ammo or upgrades to help make survival much easier.
Early into the Police Station, you’ll find the Safety Deposit Room, which is full of valuable items locked behind different codes that need to be entered. There are two keys missing making it impossible to get a lot of the items found within; here’s where to find both Spare Keys to help you get all the loot from the Safety Deposit Room.
The weapons locker in the back of the room is opened with a key card found in the Art Room, just on the other side of the Waiting Room.

Where To Find The First Spare Key In Resident Evil 2 Remake
The first Spare Key is found in the Men’s Locker Room, which is only a short walk from the Safety Deposit Room. After exiting the Safety Deposit Room, take a left and head up the stairs along the far end of the hallway. On the second floor, walk to the right and enter the locker room on the right side of the hallway. Along the back right corner of the room from where you enter will be a Portable Safe which you’ll need to pick up and examine.
How To Open Portable Safes
Portable Safes have randomized solutions, so there’s no guaranteed way to enter the code on one try and make the process quick. Each button on the Portable Safe corresponds to a light around the RPD logo. First, go through and press every button to see which one lights up which light. From there, you can start on any light, but your goal is to press the corroding buttons to light up the lights directly next to one that is already lit. There will be a lot of trial and error here, but the code won’t change, so keep trying and focus on getting one button at a time.

Where To Find The Second Spare Key In Resident Evil 2 Remake
The Second Spare Key is found in the Linen Room on the second floor in the southwestern corner of the Police Station. While you’ll be able to reach this door fairly early into the game, you’ll need the Diamond Key in order to open it. This means collecting the Three Medallions and going into the Parking Garage. Once here you can enter the Morgue and find the Diamond Key by one of the dead bodies along the right side of the wall. With the key in hand, return to the Linen Room to find the Portable Safe along the back wall with the Spare Key within.
