One of the most recognizable characters apart from Asta in the Black Clover series is Yuno Grinberryall. Raised as an orphan along with Asta, Yuno’s true origins are later revealed as him being the prince of Spade Kingdom’s Grinberryall Royal family and rightful heir to the throne.
Growing up with Asta, Yuno was always seen to be the stronger mage, with magic naturally coming to him, whereas Asta possessed no magic. From a young age, Yuno was special, and he eventually joined the Magic Knight squad known as the Golden Dawn, and quickly rose to the ranks, becoming the youngest and most powerful vice-captain in the squad.

Yuno Was No Average Mage, And He Proved It From The Start
Yuno is seen to have a more calm and calculating personality compared to his charismatic foster brother Asta. The two still share the same goal of eventually becoming a Wizard King, which is the title held by the strongest member of the Clover Kingdom’s Magic Knights. Motivated by this goal, Yuno’s worked on his magic which is known as Wind Magic, this type of magic allows him to manipulate wind at will. As he trains, becoming stronger, he is eventually chosen by Sylph, a wind spirit which allows him to amplify his magical abilities.
Yuno becomes so strong that he is also able to use a magical ability known as Star Magic, and this gives him the ability to reach Saint Stage, one of the most powerful forms that is capable of destroying devils and nullifying devil magic. It is also later revealed that Yuno is a human vessel for an elf spirit. During the grimoire acceptance ceremony, Yuno receives his first grimoire which is a four-leaf grimoire, a rare occurrence and is a book that predicts that the holder will be an exceptional magic knight. The four-leaf grimoire was previously known to be held by a legendary mage.
Yuno’s Wind Magic gives him the ability to form powerful whirlwinds that can take an enemy out easily. He is also able to create multiple variations of whirlwinds as forms of attack. As his skill level progresses, he is also able to use Creating Magic, which he uses to create objects out of wind such as blades. With Spirit Magic, Yuno is able to merge with Sylph, giving him the ability to launch attacks ten times stronger than his usual attacks. Yuno is also able to use Star Magic, which gives him the ability to manipulate stars. This means he is able to launch beams of light as an attack and teleport between stars, a feat that is impossible for an average Magic Knight.

Yuno becomes so powerful that he is able to easily take on two of the Diamond Kingdoms’ Eight Shining Generals and defeat one of them. His power becomes even more powerful, and he eventually reaches the rank known as Stage Zero,at this stage, Yuno is able to fight high-ranking devils by himself. After constantly developing his power, Yuno acquires a second grimoire giving him access to more levels of magic. Yuno’s abilities and his control over both Wind Magic and Star Magic make him an almost unrivaled character in the series.

All of these magical abilities combined with the wind spirit, Sylph, make Yuno one of the most dangerous and powerful magic knights in the series. His battles are one of the best fight scenes in the Black Clover series, some of his greatest feats include defeating Zenon Zogratis even when Zenon was at 100% devil power, fighting head-to-head with Lucius Zogratis and constantly overpowering Asta with his immense abilities. Each battle Yuno faces gives him the skills and experience to proceed to the next level and eventually a chance at becoming the next Wizard King, with Asta not far behind.
