It’s just a shame about the Dark-type weakness.

Now, another discovery has been made following the release of Space-Time Smackdown that shows Koga and Pokemon Tools are not a good combination.

If you’ve not dived too much into Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket since the release of Space-Time Smackdown, Pokemon Tools are a new type of item. When played, they are attached to your Pokemon, providing them with a variety of benefits. Rocky Helmet deals 20 damage to the opposition if it damages your Active Pokemon with an attack, Giant Cape gives your Pokemon 20 extra HP, and Lum Berry cures your Pokemon from any status ailment at the end of your turn. They’re valuable tools that can swiftly turn the tide in battle.

Unfortunately, Bocephus-the-goat on Reddit found out that while these tools are great, they don’t work well with Koga.

Koga plays its part in a stall deck featuring Weezing. Weezing is used to poison the Active Pokemon and is then recalled to the hand by Koga once it takes enough damage. While not as popular as it was around Genetic Apex’s launch, it’s a solid archetype.

With Space-Time Smackdown here, players have been experimenting with ways to improve the Koga/Weezing deck, one of which is by using Pokemon Tools. Sadly, if Weezing has a Pokemon Tool attached to it when it is returned to your hand, that Pokemon Tool will be discarded.

A combination of Weezing and Rocky Helmet would have been deadly over the course of a battle, could you recycle them both, but it looks like DeNA got ahead of that one.
