It remains to be seen if Nintendo will continue updating its list of the 10 best-selling Switch games once the Switch 2 hits the market, but assuming it does, it’s likely that the list will get some shake-ups in the years ahead. It seems highly likely that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet sales will be enough to eventually eclipse Sword and Shield, despite the fact that Sword and Shield were the higher-rated games. It also wouldn’t be surprising at all to see New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe bumped off the list eventually, as Super Mario Party Jamboree is the fastest-selling game in its franchise and is likely to hit the charts at some point down the line.
There are still a few Switch heavy hitters waiting in the wings. In fact, Nintendo recently re-confirmed three major Switch games for 2025, with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition all releasing later this year. It’s unlikely that any of them will manage to crack the top 10 this late into the Switch’s lifespan – especially with rumors of Metroid Prime 4 and Legends: Z-A having native Switch 2 releases as well – but it will be interesting to see what happens.
