Developer Arrowhead Game Studios has announced that the latest War Bond DLC for hit co-op shooter Helldivers 2 will add a massive new stratagem for players to use in addition to new weapons and cosmetics. Called the Servants of Freedom War Bond, the DLC will become purchasable in Helldivers 2 on February 6, 2025.

The Galactic War continues in Helldivers 2 as the game approaches its first anniversary. Despite a rough launch period and missteps by publisher Sony that saw Helldivers 2 delisted in dozens of countries, the game has proven to be one of the most durable multiplayer sensations of 2024. Even Helldivers 2 user review scores have recovered from review bombing campaigns, thanks to responsive action from Arrowhead Game Studios and changes that restored players’ confidence in the game. The game even saw its first crossover launched earlier in 2025, in the form of items and weapons based on the dormant Sony shooter franchise Killzone.

Helldivers 2 Releases First Big Update of 2025

Arrowhead Game Studios releases the first major Helldivers 2 update of 2025, bringing many important changes and fixes to the popular title.

Now, right on the heels of a major Helldivers 2 update that added functional shovels, Arrowhead has announced the latest DLC, called the Servants of Freedom War Bond. It adds new items in virtually every category of player loadout and customization. The largest new addition is the B-100 Portable Hellbomb Stratagem, which puts one of the most destructive weapons in Super Earth’s arsenal on a player’s back. Whereas normal Hellbombs only unlock when needed for an objective or scattered around the map as hazards, the Portable Hellbomb can set off a massive explosion anywhere players need it. Naturally, its huge blast radius will also prove quite dangerous in terms of friendly fire, so players using it will need to take care not to vaporize themselves or their squadmates.

  • IE-I2 Righteous Armor and Helmet
  • LAS-17 Double-Edge Sickle Primary Weapon
  • GP-31 Ultimate Secondary Weapon
  • G-50 Seeker Throwable

In addition to the new Helldivers 2 Stratagem, players will be able to unlock a new primary, secondary, and throwable. The LAS-17 Double-Edge Sickle primary weapon is a laser rifle with a charge mechanic similar to the Railgun, while the GP-31 Ultimate secondary weapon appears to be a scaled-up version of the Grenade Pistol, firing a large, powerful grenade. The G-50 Seeker launches a hovering drone that explodes near enemies it detects, and can target marked foes.

The two new armor sets are adorned with the Latin phrase “Fre Liberam Per Democrasum,” which translates roughly to “Freedom through Democracy.” They also have a new Helldivers 2 armor passive called Integrated Explosives, which causes the wearer to explode when killed, destroying nearby friends (and allies). The helmets have face masks modeled after stern-faced statues, allowing players to show a human-looking face on the field for the first time.

The War Bond is looking like a substantial new offering for players to try out as they enter the second year of Helldivers 2. Between the recent changes and the upswing in player morale, the Managed Democracy of Super Earth looks ready to keep fighting hard in the new year.
