The highly anticipated Castlevania: Nocturne season 2 released all of its returning episodes last month, giving bloodthirsty fans a great start to the new year. Season 2 of Castlevania: Nocturne saw the return of Richter, Annette, Maria, Alucard, and Juste who set out to take down the Vampire Messiah, and even though the latest animated dark fantasy series has been a smash hit with fans, season 3 still hangs in the air, but that might not be for too long according to directors Sam and Adam Deats.
Ahead of the release of the second season last month, Sam Deats released a brand-new Castlevania: Nocturne season 2 visual that got fans even more hyped for its return. Due to the success of season one on Netflix, which rated highly on Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 96%, and generally positive reviews from critics praising its strong character development and incredible visuals, season 2 was inevitable. However, for those who can’t wait to continue the series into a possible third and have cried out for an adaptation of Symphony of the Night, its directors have some encouraging news to share.

Castlevania: Nocturne Season 3 Is a Possibility, but It’s up to Netflix
In an exclusive interview with Collider, directors Adam Deats and Sam Deats expressed their heartfelt desire to continue to delve into the vast Castlevania universe but stated that it wasn’t solely up to them to make season 3 happen, as the decision was ultimately up to Netflix and if fans really wanted another season. However, Sam did mention that if they could come back for a third season, they would be interested in adapting Symphony of the Night, something many fans of the franchise would love to see happen and the perfect next step for the series.
“Certainly, we have tried to set the stage for and have always wanted to do a Symphony of the Night adaptation. But, as Adam said, there is a broad universe in Castlevania. This isn’t our first rodeo when it comes to the question mark in between seasons.”
It’s understandable that Sam and Adam are cautious about planning too much ahead for Castlevania due to Netflix’s unpredictable history of canceling shows. Despite amazing viewership and a dedicated fanbase, the directors seem to be urging those interested in seeing more of the animated series to continue to support it by tuning in. If season 3 is greenlit, it would take Alucard’s arc on an amazing adventure with Symphony of the Night, allowing the show to reach even greater heights and even possibly cementing the series in one of the best adaptations to date.
There’s every reason that Castlevania: Nocturne will and should return for another wonderfully crafted animation in season 3, but until it’s officially announced, fans will just have to keep watching as the first and second seasons are currently streaming on Netflix right now.
