Although even the most diehard MultiVersus fans would find it impossible to deny that the game has been massively struggling ever since its relaunch last year, that didn’t stop the news that it’ll be going offline after Season 5 from stinging. MultiVersus was once my favourite live-service game, but its demise was simply inevitable.
Over the last few years, MultiVersus has been an incredibly leaky ship, which has allowed us to see most of the characters, stages, and content that was being cooked up for the game. It seemed like quite a lot was in the works, something that’s just been backed up by a reliable dataminer who has peeked into the files of Season 5.
MultiVersus Could Have Gone On Until At Least Season 10
Over on Twitter, reliable MultiVersus dataminer and leaker multiversusie announced that they’d be datamining the game one last time as Season 5 went live. Although there wasn’t as much to discover as usual, multiversusie did find something interesting that hints at the developers having much more planned for MultiVersus.
According to the Ranked season files, Player First Games seemingly had content planned all the way up until Season 10 of MultiVersus, which would have ended on January 6, 2026. This makes sense considering all of the leaked characters and stages that we didn’t end up getting and suggests that the decision to shut the game down came rather abruptly.
To make matters even more painful for Daffy Duck advocates like myself, multiversusie also found interactions in the game’s files between Lola and Daffy, which suggests that his development was nearly finished. With that in mind, it’s likely that Daffy was right around the corner and being planned for release in Season 6, which is just a bucket of salt in the wound at this point.
