Roleplaying in KCD2 can be incredibly fun, especially given all the consequences of Henry’s actions. For example, the new crime and punishment system makes NPCs treat Henry differently after his transgressions. Naturally, players can engage with the game however they like, and the following are mere suggestions that can be ignored, picked from, or even improved on with creative ideas.

Walk Instead Of Running

In Real Life, People Only Run If They Are Late Or Trying To Escape

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Walking

A great way to improve immersion, not only in KCD2 but in other open-world games too, is to try and walk in most situations where the character isn’t mounted. In real life, people rarely run outside of emergencies and exercise, and running through a bustling town center would certainly turn a few heads.

By walking around the medieval villages of this RPG and the city of Kuttenberg in particular, players will feel like a part of the world, rather than a video character. Walking, or riding at a reasonable pace, also allows players to see more details or spot unique interactions that could lead to side quests. Of course, given the amount of action in the game, even the most hardcore fans of this play style will have to run after and away from enemies or thieves.

Dress For The Occasion

The New Outfit System Makes This Easier Than The First Game

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Green & Red Outfit

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has some of the best outfits and clothing customization in open-world games, truly showing off the richness and color of the Middle Ages. Walking around in fancy full-plate armor is another popular option, but to properly roleplay in KCD2, players should consider what Henry wears depending on the situation.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 – 9 Combat Tips

Discover the best combat tips in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Use perfect blocks, control stamina, and target weak spots to dominate every battle.

For example, if they are heading to a tavern at night for a friendly game of dice, armor is not needed. If they have a quest that involves talking to a proud noble, consider dressing Henry in his Sunday best, especially as his attire helps to determine his charisma stat, which can help convince people. One way to take this even further is to switch to nightclothes before going to sleep in a comfy bed. While players could do all of this in the first game, it took much longer as each individual item of clothing had to be swapped out. Thankfully, the sequel has added three custom outfit slots to switch between. These are represented by shields of different colors in the inventory. Remember to clean and repair Henry’s outfits too.

Try To Stick To The Night & Day Cycle, & Have A Routine

Sleep In A Bed At Night & Wake Up With The Rest Of The World Come Dawn

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Sleep Skip Time Clock

The world of KCD2 is completely alive, but that also means it goes to sleep at night. For example, players won’t find any merchants to barter with, as everyone needs their sleep. To become part of this world, players should also try to stick to the night-and-day cycle. This will not only make much of the game easier, as daylight will enable them to see and everyone will be up and about, but it will also increase immersion, as this is what a real Henry would do.

Thankfully, this is super easy to do, as when players find a bed to sleep in they can choose when they want to wake up. At other times, KCD2’s ‘advance time’ mechanic can also be useful for passing a few hours. If players own the bed or have rented it, they will also be able to sleep and save, meaning they start the new day afresh. Of course, there will also be times when darkness can act as cover, so players can alter Henry’s sleep schedule for stealth missions or if they are completely role-playing as a rogue vagabond. Other than sleep, players can also think about other aspects of Henry’s routine. They could wash their face in the morning and then break their fast.

2

Turn Off Some UI Elements

Subtitles & The Crosshair Can Be Hidden

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Game Settings

Both Kingdom Come: Deliverance titles can be counted among the best open-world games with minimal UI, but players can tweak the settings to make their visual experience even more immersive. The two options, before Hardcore Mode arrives, are to disable the crosshair in the middle of the screen and to also disable subtitles.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – How to Do Master Strikes

The Master Strike technique is one of the best ways to take opponents down in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Here’s how to do it.

The crosshair is simply a small golden dot in the middle of the screen and doesn’t do much apart from perhaps aiming at objects to pick up. It is also disabled naturally when using ranged weapons such as the bow, so there’s no harm in removing it permanently. As for hiding subtitles, this mainly relates to the ‘In-game chatter subtitles’ which are displayed above the NPC who’s chattering away to their friend or perhaps remarking on Henry’s appearance. Not having text on the screen means the focus is purely on the beautiful medieval world. Both of these options can be found under Game Settings.

1

Try To Keep Henry’s Choices & Character Consistent

Roleplay As A Specific Henry

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Henry's Starting Choices

One way to roleplay in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is to try and keep Henry consistent. For example, a version of Henry who is honorable and considers himself a good Catholic, should mostly try and stay that way, with room for moments of anger or alcohol getting the better of him. This version of Henry would try to help people and stick up for those who are unable to defend themselves. While he may have to kill enemies in combat to protect himself or others, it would somewhat break the immersion to go around murdering villagers in cold blood. He also wouldn’t steal from anyone who helped him, such as Bozhena during the prologue.

Alternatively, a more sinister playthrough as Henry could be completely different. Given all that Henry went through in the first game and the thirst for vengeance that seeps through his veins, it’s entirely plausible that he would turn to violence and thievery. Players could even have Henry undergo a character arc for better or worse. Either way, by staying mostly consistent rather than picking whatever option sounds fun in the moment, players can enhance the immersion. All of this can also be improved by taking Perks that make sense for your Henry.
