Rift of the Necrodancer throws you into a brand-new world filled with rhythm, monsters, and yoga. For fans of the franchise, you’ll see the return of diamonds, which are now used to purchase content like new songs and mini-games.
If you’ve just started playing and wonder how to get this shiny currency, you are in luck! In this guide, we are going to take a look at how you can get more diamonds in Rift of the Necrodancer. Overall, it’s not too difficult, but at the beginning of the game, you don’t have much to work with.
What Activities Provide Diamonds?
Playing new songs will earn you more diamonds. This is the best way to get diamonds, as this makes up the majority of the game.
You can either complete songs that you pick from the tracklist or proceed through Story Mode. In this mode, you’ll be able to read through visual novel-like stories, as well as play songs and complete mini-games.
Story chapters don’t reward any diamonds, but you’ll gather plenty if you just sit back and go through all the story content the game has to offer.
When looking at the Track Select screen, you’ll see that each song has some diamond icons near it. Depending on how good you do, you’ll earn a handful of diamonds. Above, you can see we played “Om and On” and only received two out of the three diamonds available on medium difficulty. If we were to play again and do better, then we could receive the final diamond.
This is a good way to see if you missed out on any diamonds. If you just need a few to unlock something, consider scrolling through the songs and seeing what you can play through to earn more.
If you change the difficulty, you’ll see more diamond icons appear. This means that you can earn additional diamonds for playing it on a harder difficulty. Easy has a max of two diamonds, medium has three diamonds, and hard has four diamonds.
When play a song for the first time on hard and get all four diamonds, you won’t need to go back and clear it on easy; this diamond counter is a total for all difficulties.
Here are some final ways to earn diamonds that don’t involve just playing a song from the ‘Play’ option.
- Complete Challenges
- Replay Boss Battles
- Complete Mini-games
What To Do With Diamonds
With diamonds in your pocket, there are a few things that you can do with them; you can check them out below.
- Unlock New Songs
- Purchase Modifiers
- Unlock Challenges
- Unlock Mini-games
- Unlock Boss Battles
If you played through Story Mode, you may wonder why you didn’t use diamonds to unlock boss battles. If you play through the story, you’ll be able to naturally unlock them. If, on the other hand, you want to battle a boss that you haven’t encountered naturally, you can just use diamonds to do so.
Overall, we suggest just playing the game normally in order to get more diamonds. If you vary your activities, you’ll have enough diamonds in no time!
