Hello Kitty Island Adventure: Rockadoodler Roundup Guide

In Hello Kitty Island Adventure, you’ll eventually unlock the Net, which allows you to catch the various critters crawling around the islands. This item is required for you to complete the story quest “Rockadoodler Roundup,” which takes place on Gemstone Mountain. Rockadoodlers are faster than most of the critters you’ll find on Gemstone Mountain, and they only spawn in one particular area. Fortunately, there are mechanics in Island Adventure that make critter-hunting less tedious.

How to Unlock Rockadoodler Roundup Story Quest

In order to start “Rockadoodler Roundup,” you’ll need level 8 friendship with Pekkle, and have completed “Bring Back the Swing” main quest. You can level up Pekkle by giving him three gifts a day. However, it’s likely you’re still early in your Hello Kitty Island Adventure playthrough, so you won’t have the crafting plans to make Pekkle’s 3-heart gift.

Instead, you should craft the Stacked Stones, which require 3x Calming Crystals. You can find the crafting plans for it on the Gemstone Mountain shore by the dock.

  • Calming Crystals are resources that are located in the Gemstone Mines (in the room with the large lake). Stacked Stones are a 2-heart gift for Pekkle.

Once he’s level 8, Pekkle will ask you to fill the Corral on Gemstone Mountain with 6x Rockadoodlers. You can catch rockadoodlers with the Net, which you get by starting “Open the Nature Preserve” quest (level 2 friendship with Keroppi).

There are several things to keep in mind when hunting rockadoodlers:

  1. Rockadoodlers only appear from morning to day; you won’t find any at night. You can change the time by resting until morning in your cabin (requires Bed).
  2. Rockadoodlers only spawn in Gemstone Town. There’s a fast-travel mailbox in Gemstone Town, so you can just keep warping to it if you’re not seeing any rockadoodlers.
  3. You should equip clothing that makes it easier to catch critters, such as the Forest Critter Catcher outfit. You should also have Keroppi as your traveling companion.

If you get Keroppi to level 6, he’ll have the Critter Calmer ability when he travels with you. This will make critters move slower, which is a very useful ability when chasing down the swift rockadoodlers.

When you have 6 rockadoodlers, return to Pekkle at the Corral and “gift” them to him. This will complete “Rockadoodler Roundup” and unlock the Rockadoodler Roundup Minigame.

Where to Find Forest Critter Catcher Outfit

Locations in Spooky Swamp

You can get the hat, vest, and pants of the Forest Critter Catcher outfit in Island Adventure without having to wait for any in-game events. Even if you don’t have all three pieces at the time of “Rockadoodler Roundup,” you should still wear whatever you have.

The Forest Critter Catcher outfit is located in Spooky Swamp. Here’s how to find each piece (you can also view the images above for the exact locations):

  • Forest Critter Catcher Hat: In a chest outside the southern wall of the Hedge Maze in Spooky Swamp.
  • Forest Critter Catcher Pants: On the western shore of Spooky Swamp, hidden among some palm trees right before the second bridge.
  • Forest Critter Catcher Vest: Looted from a chest in the Volcano Critter Room at the Nature Preserve.

How to Unlock An Egg-cellent Pan Quest

After completing “Rockadoodler Roundup,” speak to Pekkle once more to start the Rockadoodler Roundup Minigame. Playing the minigame costs 1x Game Ticket, which Pekkle gives you. Otherwise, you can find Game Tickets on the ground at the Resort Plaze in Seaside Resort.

During the minigame, you’re given a set amount of time to catch as many rockadoodlers as you can. The rockadoodlers will spawn outside the corral, so if you just stay in the area, you’re bound to catch some. Depending on how many you catch, you’ll receive Eggs as a reward. Currently, this is the only way to get Eggs in Island Adventure.

You need to complete one round of Rockadoodler Roundup to start “An Egg-cellent Pan” story quest.
