- Game publishers should announce changes in advance to avoid player confusion and panic.
2K Games has issued a response following the disappearance of OlliOlli World and Rollerdrome from Steam’s platform. Players were concerned when the two Roll7-developed games’ listings on Steam indicated that they were no longer available on the platform.
While it’s rare for Steam games to disappear, it’s not unheard of. While Steam sometimes pulls games, it’s generally a move the publisher of the game makes. In this case, it seems that 2K Games was behind the move, though the reason for it still hasn’t been fully explained.

What to Expect From BioShock 4 in 2025
It’s highly unlikely that BioShock 4 will launch in 2025, but that doesn’t mean fans have nothing to look forward to this year regarding the title.
Now, 2K Games has offered an official response on the situation with OlliOlli World and Rollerdrome. In a statement to Eurogamer, 2K Games said that the two games will return to Steam, with 2K publishing them. However, 2K didn’t say anything about why the games were removed from the platform in the first place, nor exactly when they will return. Players who want to check them out immediately can still grab both games on the PlayStation Store, though its continued availability on that storefront adds further mystery as to why only the PC version was pulled.
Publishing Changes May Have Led to Roll7 Games’ Removal from Steam
While 2K hasn’t explicitly stated the reason for the change, it’s possible that it has something to do with the recent changes regarding the game’s developer and publisher. Both Rollerdrome and OlliOlli World were originally developed by Roll7 and published by Private Division, an indie branch of Take-Two Interactive. However, Roll7 was shut down in 2024, and Private Division was sold.
Now, however, the listings on Steam and PlayStation have changed to list the publisher as 2K Games. While 2K Games is still under the same umbrella, being owned by Take-Two Interactive, it’s possible that changing the game publisher required the title to be first taken down on Steam before the shuttered Roll7 studio title could be republished under 2K. In any case, fans of the title and Roll7’s work can at least rest easy knowing that the games aren’t gone forever, and should be back in the near future, based on 2K’s statement.
With so many game studio layoffs, closures, and other turmoil impacting the gaming industry in recent years, it’s entirely possible that something like this could happen again with another game in the near future, though not necessarily with Take-Two Interactive. Game publishers might want to consider announcing changes like these in advance, so that eagle-eyed gamers don’t panic and assume the worst.
