- Older Ubisoft titles such as Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Far Cry 5, and more have recently received Steam achievements.
Watch Dogs has received a surprise update on Steam, finally adding achievements to the eleven-year-old title. Watch Dogs was originally released for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC back in 2014, but the first installment in Ubisoft’s open-world action-adventure series was without achievements on Steam for over a decade. Thankfully, the title has received an unexpected update on the platform that finally adds the feature fans have been begging for.
As one of the biggest developers and publishers in gaming, for many years Ubisoft has required PC players to download and install games via the Ubisoft Connect app. However, with the upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the studio announced it would be releasing all of its upcoming titles on Steam on day one. Since the announcement, Ubisoft has been working tirelessly to bring Steam achievements to various titles such as Far Cry 5, Far Cry 6, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, and many more. And it doesn’t look like the studio is done just yet as Watch Dogs has become the latest title to receive the same treatment.

Ubisoft Adds Achievements to Watch Dogs on Steam
As spotted by Reddit user Guineaa, Watch Dogs has become the latest Ubisoft title to receive achievements on Steam. According to the official Steam page for Watch Dogs, the title now has 49 achievements for players to collect. These achievements range from escaping a level 5 police scan to completing various story acts. The update marks the first entry in the Watch Dogs series to receive Steam achievements, with Watch Dogs 2 and Watch Dogs Legion still yet to receive the same treatment. However, with other Ubisoft games, such as the Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed franchises, Steam achievements have been added to older titles gradually, which means there’s a strong chance Watch Dogs 2 and Legion will receive the feature in the coming weeks.
The upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows appears to be a huge turning point for Ubisoft. Not only will it mark the studio’s return to Steam for day one releases, but Shadows has also been delayed multiple times now as Ubisoft is seemingly attempting to perfect the title and avoid past mistakes. Assassin’s Creed Shadows was originally due to launch in November 2024 before being delayed to February 2025. Just one month before the title was due to be released, Ubisoft hit fans with another delay, this time to March 20, 2025.
While older titles continue to be updated with Steam achievements, Ubisoft also recently revealed that Far Cry New Dawn would be getting a big update for current-gen consoles. The studio surprised fans at the end of January by releasing a new patch for the title on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S which added 60 FPS support for the 2019 title. With the studio rumored to be undergoing major financial struggles and layoffs occurring regularly, Ubisoft appears to be doing all it can to appease fans as they wait patiently for the studio’s next big title.
