When it comes to cozy and relaxing games, one of the first things that comes to people’s minds are titles from the Animal Crossing franchise, and rightfully so. Each iteration provides a pleasant experience, and one of the major components that contributes to that is the series’ characters. The villagers of Animal Crossing come in many different forms and personalities, each with distinct looks that enhance their fun and memorable interactions. The next game in the franchise is likely to add even more NPCs to its already large cast, and if it does, Nintendo should consider doubling down on more unique designs.
The world of Animal Crossing has many anthropomorphic creatures, all of which can be befriended or shunned by players whenever they wish. Whether they end up being the coolest, ugliest, or cutest characters in Animal Crossing, adding more special-looking villagers in the next game would have no downside. Hopefully, Nintendo will consider increasing the number of villagers like Lucky or Bob, as many appreciate it when a villager stands out from the crowd.
What the Next Animal Crossing Can Do to Make Fans Look Forward to More Special-Looking Villagers

The NPCs in every iteration of the game are based on real-life animals, such as ducks, dogs, and cows, with exotic variants like Anteaters or Rhinos also available. With the next game, perhaps Nintendo can introduce some never-before-seen animal categories. Nintendo could base these around animals that the franchise has yet to touch, such as bats, snakes, and platypuses, just to name a few.
When the next Animal Crossing debuts on the Switch 2, it should come with new things that will allow it to be a significant improvement over all the previous iterations. More special-looking villagers would be a great addition, and if they stand out enough, they could get even more eyes on the game to further the reach of one of Nintendo’s biggest franchises.
