Summary

  • Season two of The Last of Us will feature some “pretty brutal” content that was cut from the game.
  • You can expect more original material in season two.
  • What can get more brutal than the golf club scene!?

Despite claims that The Last of Us didn’t need a live action adaptation, it’s safe to say HBO knocked it out of the park. While the show was faithful to the beloved game in many ways, it also shone with its original material – case in point, episode three starring Bill and Frank. Despite already having story-rich source material, the producers’ decision to include new content worked out beautifully.

The Last Of Us Season Two Will Be Just As Faithful As The First

Expect golf clubs, Jeffrey Wright, and plenty of bloodshed.

One of the most anticipated things about season two will be for fans of the games to see the reaction of those who haven’t played the games to that one scene. You know what I’m talking about. But, we also can’t wait to see the original content the show will bring along with it, and Neil Druckmann says they have something big in store.

HBO’s The Last Of Us Season 2 Will Have Content That Was Cut From The Game

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly (thanks GamesRadar+), Druckmann revealed that season two will feature a “pretty brutal” scene that was deleted from the game. While he didn’t give out any more details about it, he said, “I’m very excited for people to see it.”

Considering just how brutal The Last of Us Part 2 was, there’s no way we’d be able to guess what this scene will be about. It could even be a scene without Joel, Ellie, or Abby entirely. However, if the previous season is anything to go by, I can’t wait to see what they come up with.

In the same interview, Druckmann also spoke about why Abby actor Kaitlyn Dever has not bulked up for the role. Abby, as fans of the game will know, is quite a physically intimidating person, and her physique is actually important to her character. However, Neil Druckmann has played down this aspect for the TV show.

“That doesn’t play as big of a role in this version of the story,” he said, making a comparison to the physicality of Ellie and Abby in the games to the TV show. “Because there’s not as much violent action moment to moment. It’s more about the drama. I’m not saying there’s no action here. It’s just, again, different priorities and how you approach it.”
