The next expansion pack for The Sims 4 has been leaked. Not many details about the expansion have been revealed beyond the title, which has been leaked as The Sims 4: Business and Hobbies. As it’s a leak, this may not be the final name of the expansion pack, but it does give an indicator as to the theme of the expansion pack.
The Sims 4: Business and Hobbies is likely to be very similar to one of the most well-regarded expansion packs from The Sims series, The Sims 2: FreeTime. The Sims 2: FreeTime was the final expansion pack of The Sims 2, and was also based on hobbies. Despite only being released at the tail-end of The Sims 2‘s life cycle, The Sims 2: FreeTime became one of the most well-regarded expansion packs in The Sims community and is still fondly remembered today.

Though the Kits may seem like any other, The Sims 4’s most recent drop could change the way DLC is constructed in the future.
The Sims 2’s 2025 Re-Release
With the very recent re-release of The Sims 2 and all of its expansions, including The Sims 2: FreeTime, the content from this pack will likely be at the fore of many players’ minds when The Sims 4: Business and Hobbies is released. The Sims 2: FreeTime included an incredible range of content that enriched the everyday lives of Sims and helped players develop their Sims as individuals through gameplay with a range of immersive hobbies, interests, and careers.
The Sims 2: FreeTime was something of a precursor to The Sims 3: Generations and included elements of generational gameplay, with the introduction of the Parenting skill and BFFs who would age with the player’s Sims. Hobbies included in The Sims 2: FreeTime include restoring an old car, ballet, pottery, train modeling, sewing clothes, and expanding upon existing hobbies such as cooking, gaming, and arts and crafts.
Implementing Hobbies in The Sims 4
Some of these activities have been requested by The Sims 4 players for a long time, particularly pottery and sewing. Other hobbies, such as ballet, were tied to a career. Being able to restore old cars isn’t, as that would require the implementation of a vehicle system in The Sims 4, which is incredibly unlikely to happen any time soon in The Sims 4. Other features, such as aging NPCs, are already implemented in The Sims 4.
As the expansion pack’s title is The Sims 4: Business and Hobbies, it’s likely that the number of hobbies will be cut, but with a business system attached, much like The Sims 4: Home Chef Hustle Stuff Pack. If this is the case, it would be great if Sims could create pottery and clothes and sell them with a more in-depth gameplay system than is currently used in The Sims 4: Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack. An additional option would be to add a ballet career to The Sims 4, where a Sim could practice dancing at home from childhood, go to dance classes, and then continue dancing as a career.
Mechanics such as this would draw upon The Sims 2: FreeTime, while also working with The Sims 4‘s scope. The Sims is in the middle of its 25th-anniversary celebrations, and February 6 is marked as the start of Motherlode Season. As Motherlode is the cheat that adds money to the player Sim’s household funds, it may be the day information about the new The Sims 4 expansion pack begins to drop if the pack is about Sim hobbies and monetizing them.
