Marvel Snap is back up in the United States, and recent players around the world can claim compensation rewards for its recent outage.
The end of Marvel Snap‘s Dark Avengers season marked the start of another one. The new seasonal content drop is based on Disney’s Captain America: Brave New World, an upcoming superhero blockbuster starring Anthony Mackie, which will hit the silver screens on February 14. Ahead of that premiere, Marvel Snap is adding nine new cards inspired by the film, with its list of upcoming additions being headlined by Sam Wilson Captain America. The 2/3 hero spawns Cap’s Shield at the start of the game, which is a 1/1 card that gives Sam Wilson Captain America a 2-point Power buff when moved to his location.
While moving Cap’s Shield to its owner’s location requires some luck, certain existing cards—like Marvel Snap’s Madame Web—synergize with it, providing an alternative way to reposition it on the board. In accordance with Marvel Comics lore, the shield itself cannot be destroyed. Another Brave New World card that’s designed as a clever nod to Marvel’s lore is Uncle Ben, a 1/2 character who gets replaced with Spider-Man when destroyed.
The game’s 33rd season also introduces Joaquin Torres Falcon II, a new 3/4 character whose presence on the board makes the On Reveal effect of every 1-Cost card trigger twice. This hero hence seems to have the potential to be one of Marvel Snap‘s best Ongoing cards. That notwithstanding, making the most of Joaquin Torres Falcon II will require some careful planning, because he isn’t too beefy and thus can’t be relied on to stay in play for long.
Besides Sam Wilson Captain America, Brave New World introduces two more 2-Cost cards: Thaddeus Ross and Gorgon. The former punishes the opponent for not playing on a perfect Energy curve by drawing a card with 10 or more Power whenever that happens. Meanwhile, Gorgon has an Ongoing effect that increases the Cost of all the opponent’s starting cards by one, up to a maximum of six. Two additional 3/3 cards—Redwing and Diamondback—are also set to be introduced during Brave New World, together with the 4/5 Laufey. The newly started season is scheduled to conclude on March 4, at 11pm PST.
