How does Kingdome Come Deliverance 2 lockpicking work? Everyone in Bohemia has a life, believe it or not. They all wander in the day, work their job, drink in the tavern, whatever they like. Because of this, it also means that they have things – possessions, savings, whatever it is they’ve worked to get. These things can be yours if you don’t mind getting your hands dirty.
One of the best aspects of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is the freedom it offers; the main story missions can be approached from a multitude of directions, and your life outside of that is truly yours in the RPG. You can be an honest laborer to earn money, or you can do what some of us did and steal everything that wasn’t nailed to the floor. That said, you’ll first need to know how lockpicking works to gain access to what people care about most.

How to lockpick in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
To lockpick in Kingdome Come Deliverance 2, you first need to have a lockpick in your inventory, then you can hold the ‘open’ button (default E on keyboard). You’ll see the interior of the lock, and your cursor will be replaced with a circle.
The idea here is to find the sweet spot on the lock with your cursor (you’ll know this when the cursor turns from grey to gold), rotating the lock with D, while keeping the cursor in the same position relative to the rotation. Imagine a small circle on a piece of paper: put your finger on a spot on the circle, and keep it there while you rotate the paper.
It’s a little strange at first, but your cursor will grow as you gain ranks in thievery, making it easier to keep in place. The difficulty of the lock also plays a huge part in picking it – the cursor begins to shake the longer you turn, forcing you to fight against it the nearer you come to the finish. The more difficult the lock, the more accurate you have to be.
Your lockpicks can break as you struggle against the locking mechanism, so make sure you have plenty on hand. Also, snapping a lockpick makes a lot of noise, so if you think you’re going to struggle with a particularly difficult lock, it may be worth backing off, lest you draw unwanted attention.
Potions like Quickfinger can temporarily increase your thievery skill, making those tough locks a lot easier to pick. By the time you reach the end game, though, there won’t be a container in the land that can resist your nimble fingers, and there are even KCD2 perks like Master Thief that allow you to open easy locks without having to play the minigame.
Where to get Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 lockpicks
When you begin your journey, lockpicks are at a premium; they’re seen as morally wrong items that only scoundrels would own. You’ll find lockpicks in disreputable areas of a town, but the most reliable way to find lockpicks is to purchase them from merchants and fences.
Now that you know how to pick locks in Kingdome Come Deliverance 2, you shouldn’t have any problem taking what you need – besides the obvious moral implications.
