Selling stolen items and getting caught
Let’s say you managed to steal a lot of items in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. You can go ahead and sell these to merchant shops once they’re open during the day. However, merchants automatically lower their prices if they notice that you’re selling stolen wares.
There might also be instances when you get caught. It happens. Thankfully, you can use dialogue skill checks to avoid complications. For example, you can threaten an NPC with violence or you could berate a guard. If you fail these skill checks, you have three remaining options:
- Pay the fine – The amount of money you need to pay depends on the severity of the crime.
- Accept your punishment – This depends on the severity of the offense–i.e. a light offense means you’ll just go to the pillory.
- Resist arrest – You’ll have to fight the guards or escape from them.
Note that your reputation will take a hit because people caught you committing a crime. Also, if you try to run away, you’re not going to get very far because guards will continue to chase you. Riding a horse mount is a viable option, but your horse could bolt if they have a low Courage stat since you’re surrounded by enemies. Of course, you can stand your ground and fight, but killing guards, the wardens of peace appointed by the king or the nobility, is an even graver offense.
