There are a lot of realistic rules and mechanics you need to learn in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. If you’re walking around at night, you have to be carrying a lit torch. If you’re not, you’ll be told off by guards and other NPCs. If you continue to ignore them, there’s a chance you’ll be attacked, fined, or put into the stocks.

When Does Kingdom Come: Deliverance Take Place?
Ever wonder exactly when and where Kingdom Come Deliverance takes place? Here’s what you want to know.
However, getting and using a torch in game isn’t as simple as you might have hoped. In the early hours, you’ll spot people wandering around with a light guiding their way and be wondering how you get that for yourself.
How To Get Torches
Getting a torch is the easy part. Early in the game, you’ll be given one by an NPC and you’ll find it in your inventory. If you lose it somehow or accidentally sell it, you’ll need to get another if you want to explore towns at night.
Thankfully, you can buy torches from various different merchants and shops in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The easier thing to do is to head to any tavern in the game and speak to the owner there. They should have torches that they will sell to you.
Be sure to haggle over the price of a torch. They’re not expensive, but you should never pay full price for an item in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
How To Use Torches
Once you have one, the trickier part is actually using it. First of all, you need to open your inventory and look in the section below your weapons. In there, you should see the torch. All you need to do is click on it, or press X/A on PlayStation and Xbox respectively, to equip it.
However, unlike other weapons and gear, a torch isn’t added to your belt and pouch slots to quickly equip. Instead, you need to press something else to actually use your torch.
If you hold down on the d-pad, which is the button you use to open the menu normally, you’ll see a circle and the word torch appear in the bottom right of the screen. Once the circle is filled, Henry will bring out his torch and will be safe from the guards.
