The lush forests of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s two main regions are beautiful but massive. Getting around on foot will take ages, and you’ll only reach your destination tired and hungry. You’ll want to find another way to travel as soon as possible so that you’re not wasting time.

Ever wonder exactly when and where Kingdom Come Deliverance takes place? Here’s what you want to know.

In the game’s intro, you lose access to Pebbles. He’s your trusty sidekick, but not the only horse you can get in the game. While getting Pebbles back will be the main aim, there are other horses you can get in the meantime. You just have to be happy committing crimes.

When you first enter the open area of the Trosky region, you’ll be wandering around on foot. Before hiking to a quest marker, you’ll need a horse.

If you head to any town, you’ll see them wandering around near stables. Also, if you head to the swamp near the first Inn you visit, you’ll see some in a field.

However, since horses all belong to someone, riding one will count as stealing. Since the areas are quiet, you should be able to take one without being seen. If you leave the horse somewhere, though, you won’t be able to call it to where you are. You’ll want your own horse as soon as possible.

How To Get Pebbles Back

Thankfully, you can get Pebbles back if you go to the right location. The first time you go to Semine, head to the stables at the back of the castle. In the field there, you’ll spot a grey horse. Walk up to it and Henry will realise that it is Pebbles.

However, you can’t just take Pebbles as it belongs to the Groom there. You need to speak to Groom Ballatay by the wall and say you want Pebbles back. He’ll argue, so say “be reasonable” and you’ll get her for free.

After an hour passes in the game, you’ll be able to get Pebbles back and head back out on your adventures. He’ll be your horse for the rest of the game if you want.

You can call Pebbles to you wherever you are by pressing triangle on PlayStation, Y on Xbox, or X on PC to whistle.

Once you’ve found Pebbles, a trophy/achievement called An Old Friend will also unlock, rewarding you for getting him back.

How To Buy Better Horses

However, Pebbles isn’t technically the best horse in the game. You’ll be able to buy better horses later in the game. If you spot a stables in any town or village in the game, speak to the Groom there, and you may be able to buy the horses they’re selling.

You have to buy horses by name, so head to the horses in the pen nearby and compare them with your current horse. You’ll then need to remember the name of the horse you want to buy.

If you ask to buy a horse, you’ll be given a list of the horses they have. Choose the one you want to buy and you’ll be given the price. You can then buy it and ride off on it. Be warned, horses aren’t cheap. You’ll need thousands of Groschen to buy them.

Grooms will give you the value of your current horse towards the one you want to buy, reducing the price a little.
