How do you equip the torch in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2? Controlling light is important in KCD2, and there are many situations where you’ll want to have a light source to, well, see things. The nights in 15th-century Bohemia are very dark indeed, and you’d do well not to be scrambling around in the pitch black; there are things worse than wolves out there, you know.

The Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 release date is finally here, and we’ve been having a jolly old time racing across Bohemia, as you can see in our KDC2 review, getting into scrapes, and solving family feuds. One thing we don’t like in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, though, is being accused of things we haven’t done, or more importantly, being accused of things we have. Keeping your torch lit at night can stop the former, while shrouding yourself in darkness more often than not prevents the latter.

How to equip your torch in KCD2

First off, you’ll need a torch in your inventory. These are fairly easy to find; you can either buy one from a merchant (taverns are a good bet) or loot one, with most folk having one on their person, being good law-abiding citizens as they are.

Once you have a torch, drag it over to your inventory, in the slot just below your shoes. Once you have a torch equipped, you can activate it by pressing R.

You’ll need to have your torch out when wandering a settlement at night. If you don’t, the guards will assume you’re up to no good and approach you, so if you plan on indulging in some criminal activities, keep your torch away, and keep out of sight.

Now that you know how to wield your torch in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, you’ll always have enough light just when you need it. We’ve also got early-game explainers on how the KCD2 fast travel system works, plus a list of the best KCD2 swords to seek out.
