Exploring the huge world in Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist is one of the most entertaining parts of the game, but barriers initially lock down certain areas. These barriers, known as Growths, exist as a way to guide you through certain areas first, where you learn new abilities that let you pass through them.

Here, you can learn everything about how to unlock the fast travel feature in Ender Magnolia: Bloom In The Mist.

These abilities are essential for exploration and are usually unlocked after beating an important story boss or advancing to a new area, where you’ll obtain an upgrade for one of your Homunculi. They’ll let you break through the barriers and are very useful in other ways.

Growths In Ender Magnolia, Explained

Growth is the name given to certain barrier types that appear throughout the game. They start appearing from the very first zone in the game and will block the player’s path to certain areas and treasures occasionally. They exist as a way to point you to the next step in the story. Sometimes, they’re guarding powerful Relics or upgrade materials that aren’t meant for you to get at that moment. This forces you to backtrack at a later moment, after you get the necessary upgrade.

You can find three different types of Growth, and you can only break them with specific abilities, all obtained from defeating certain bosses throughout the game. These are all powerful story bosses, so you can’t miss them to advance. Growths are marked on the map, and hovering over them reveals which Ability can break them if you’ve unlocked them already. If you don’t have the ability yet, it only appears as “?????”.

How To Break Every Type Of Growth

Each of the three types of Growth requires a different ability, and each of these abilities is unlocked at different points in the game. They can only be unlocked in the following order, as you cannot face the necessary bosses without unlocking the previous abilities.

Horizontal Growth

Horizontal Growth barriers are placed in the ground and can only be broken with Garm’s Iron Stake. This ability is unlocked after defeating Garm in the Magicite Mines, which is one of the first “hard” bosses you get in the game. It can also be used to damage enemies.

You can only use it from the air, and you must jump from a certain height to break the Growth, as well as hit it right in the middle. Otherwise, it won’t do anything. The height needed is usually more than your regular jumps.

Whenever you see Horizontal Growths, look for any platforms you can jump from to break it. If you cannot see one just yet, you probably need to explore that area a bit more and unlock something.

Vertical Growth

As for Vertical Growths, you can only break them with Hati’s Charge, an ability learned after defeating the Crimson Forest boss Veol. Reaching Veol may take you a while, as the Crimson Forest itself is a huge labyrinth filled with teleports and different paths. But once you manage to complete its puzzles, you’ll be greeted with another difficult boss fight. Your prize is an upgrade for your good boy Hati.

Once you unlock Hati’s charge, hold the Dash button and run in that direction for a few seconds. After channeling for a while, you’ll unleash Hati’s Charge. This ability also damages enemies aside from breaking Growths.

Changing direction cancels your channeling, and will also cancel any Charge currently happening. Dashing in the air, jumping, or touching the ground continues the charge.

Underwater Growth

Some swimming areas also have Growth in them, and you can break those after finishing the Declan’s Estate area. Once you defeat the namesake sorcerer in an underwater battle, you’ll find a device that upgrades Motley with Motley’s Torment, a skill identical to Hati’s Charge, but for underwater environments.

Motley’s Torment can be used in the same way as Hati’s Charge (use Dash and hold the button while walking in the same direction), but the underwater environment makes it much easier to use.

This upgrade is obtained much later in the game, once you’ve already reached the Central City. But many Underwater Growths are found in the Lower Stratum, so you’ll have to backtrack for those. But the extra trips are worth it, as you’ll find many upgrades and Relics that you couldn’t reach before.

All Growth-breaking abilities will break parts from Mutants when used to damage them. This causes them to drop Scrap, which is used to enhance your Relics. This is the most reliable way to obtain this currency.
