While the main bosses are the hardest challenges you’ll face in Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist, some minor encounters can also be a pain. The Roller: Giant Orb boss is such an example, as it’s not a story-heavy boss (as it has no intro cutscene whatsoever), but can be genuinely very difficult to defeat.

Fortunately, just like other difficult bosses, this guy’s right next to a resting bench, so you can get back into the fight as soon as possible if you happen to fail. But don’t worry, as this giant insect won’t be rolling that huge orb for much longer.
How To Find Roller: Giant Orb
The large-sized Roller is found at the Final Disposal Site, southwest of the map. After obtaining the Dive ability from the Subterranean Waterway, you can access this area from the Tethered Steeple. Head to the Assembly Hall respite, then go down the hole and head west until you see a downward passage.
Dive into this passage to access the Disposal Site, where you’ll find some regular Roller enemies on the way. Pay attention to them and their patterns; you’ll have to get used to them very soon. Once you reach the Cleaner’s Refuge respite, prepare for a fight in the next room.
Roller Attacks And Moves
As a pumped-up version of the regular enemies, this big insect has mostly the same moveset as them, with a few key differences (such as size) that make it much more difficult.
Attack |
Description |
---|---|
Rock Throw |
Rolls the orb and starts throwing rocks at you. Stands in the same place throughout the attack. |
Rollout |
Starts dashing in your direction while rolling the orb, being invincible to any attacks. |
Orb S ash |
Grabs the orb and smashes it in your direction. It always smashes three times. |
How To Defeat Roller: Giant Orb
The fight would be incredibly simple if not for one fact: your regular attacks cannot damage the Roller from the orb’s direction. Even if the orb’s not rolling, you won’t deal any damage to the boss.
Lito’s and Yolvan’s attacks still work, but Nola’s main hits (your main source of damage) are a no-go. Muninn still works, so keep it active at all times. We recommend attempting this fight around Level 30, and after defeating Yeol in the Crimson Forest. A recommended setup for this fight is the following:
- Bangle 1: Bone Bangle
- Bangle 2: Stone Bangle
- Nola: Soul Harvester
- Lito: Blazing Fist
- Yolvan: Lacerate
- Muninn: Seeker
- Relics: Chain Belt, Tarnished Tag, Effigy
If you cannot equip all of these relics, prioritize the first two. Any extra slots you may have can also be used by other Relics you like.
Finding the openings for dealing damage is your main challenge in this fight. During his Rollout advance, you can’t do much except use Yolvan, so use him and run as needed. You can always deal some damage with Yolvan and Lito from a distance, but even with upgrades, it won’t be much. Nola’s still your best choice throughout the fight, as well as having Munnin active.
Your best chance at hitting the Roller is during this Orb Smash attack, as it’ll be vulnerable during a small window. Get close to the boss and dash through it before its attack lands, then start attacking him with one combo or two.
The boss always turns at you for the next smash, so you’ll need to dodge it three times. It’ll most likely use this attack whenever you’re close to it, so you can bait it to use this attack whenever you can. Just be careful not to be hit by accident.
The Rock Throw attack is very similar to Garm, but a bit easier to dodge. Normally, standing close to the Roller is a safe spot for rocks, but be ready to dodge if you see any of these coming at you. Avoid touching the big orb, as it deals damage when it’s spinning.
If you’re lucky, the Roller will use Rock Throw right after the third Smash, but without turning to you. This is the best chance to do some heavy damage. Unleash as many attacks as you can and try to Break its resistance, which also cancels its current attack.
Overall, the whole fight revolves around sneaking past the giant orb and attacking the main boss in creative ways. Be quick with your dashes, and always be ready to run away whenever you see the Roller dashing in your direction.
Rewards For Defeating Roller
Defeating the Roller won’t give you a new ability, but awards you with a New Model Core. You can use it to upgrade abilities for your Homunculi. You’ll also free the Attuner who was locked inside the dirt orb, and he’ll give you a new task in the area.
Finally, you can also advance through the Disposal Site, which will eventually lead you to more treasures and, of course, new bosses.
