Hello Kitty Island Adventure - Potion Hunt: The Opening Guide

In Hello Kitty Island Adventure, you’ll eventually unlock the ability to brew potions. Drinking these will give you temporary buffs, so they’re good to have. In order to do so, you’ll need to start and complete the story quest “Potion Hunt: The Opening,” which becomes available after you’ve befriended and leveled up Kuromi. Depending on how much you like exploring the islands of Island Adventure, potions may be one of the first things you should unlock to make your wall climbing and diving easier.

What Do You Think Of Hello Kitty Island Adventure?

I’ll be honest, as a big WoW fan and someone who’s watched the Make Love, Not Warcraft episode of South Park more times than I can count, I only wanted to play Hello Kitty Island Adventure for the meme, and still can’t believe it’s a real game. I was expecting a really simple kiddy game that would feel like a mobile port (it was originally on iOS a few years back).

But if I’m being even more honest, I’m having a lot of fun with it – it’s much more than just a kawaii Animal Crossing with different characters, it’s its own unique thing that blends together a bunch of genres to create something wholly its own. Plus, it’s the perfect Steam Deck game for lazy nights on the couch.

Best Gifts for Kuromi

To unlock “Potion Hunt: The Opening,” Kuromi needs to be level 8. “Potion Hunt: The Opening” is the first of five quests. Like any other character in Island Adventure, you can only give Kuromi three gifts a day. Because of this limit, you should give Kuromi two-heart gifts instead of one-heart gifts.

One of the easiest gifts for Kuromi that you can obtain early in your playthrough is the Jack-O-Lantern. The Jack-O-Lantern requires x5 Pumpkins. You can get its Crafting Plans from the chest on the lily pad behind the pumpkin patch in Spooky Swamp. From there, use the crafting table near Chococat by the Resort Gate Mailbox.

Other liked gifts for Kuromi are:

How to Unlock Cauldron (Spooky Swamp)

Once you have 8 hearts with Kuromi, speak to her near the Spooky Swamp Mailbox or Fwishing Well, then follow her to the Witch’s Hut (a pumpkin-shaped building). Unfortunately, Kuromi is missing the recipes to create potions, so she’ll ask you to retrieve them from My Melody back at Seaside Resort.

Go to Seaside Resort, using the Resort Mailbox, and speak with My Melody. It turns out My Melody had some recipe cards, but she decided to share them with the other villagers. You won’t have to get all of them now, and My Melody will only give you one Potion Recipe Card. You’ll then need to give the card to Kuromi back at the Witch’s Hut.

Giving Kuromi the Recipe Card will unlock the Stamina Recharge Potion recipe. To make it, interact with the Cauldron, and tab over to the recipes tab (book icon). Choose the Stamina Recharge Potion and make it. You’ll need the following:

Glow Berries are found on the cliffs past the Resort Gate. They’re a bundle of multicolored berries and are difficult to miss. You can also find Apples hanging from tree branches in this area, too. However, you may have an easier time getting Apples by looking for them in the Hedge Maze in Spooky Swamp.

Once you make the potion, Kuromi will want you to try it out and report your findings. A Stamina Recharge Potion will increase the speed of your stamina wheel recharge. You can use it by going into your bag. After that, speak to Kuromi to complete the quest.

You can start “Potion Hunt 2: Need for Speed” the next day to unlock more recipes.
