EA recently announced Battlefield Labs, a new community test program for Battlefield 6–or whatever the next entry in the series is called–and interest in the program exceeded expectations.

The Battlefield Comms account thanked fans for their “enthusiastic response” to the Battlefield Labs announcement, saying, “We’re thrilled by the interest, which has exceeded our expectations.”

The demand was so high that EA implemented a queue on the sign-up page, and some fans ran into issues. EA said it’s “actively working” to resolve any ongoing issues with the sign-up process and encouraged fans to continue attempting to sign up until they are successful. EA also assured fans that the order in which they signed up for the test will not affect the chance of being accepted into the program.

The first Battlefield Labs test will take place “in the coming weeks,” but everyone who gets in has to sign a non-disclosure agreement stating they will not reveal any information. That said, EA said it will publish public blog posts detailing these tests and the lessons learned, so everyone will be able to track it.

Another big Battlefield announcement from EA this week was Battlefield Studios, which is the umbrella name for the four main studios working on the future of Battlefield–DICE, Criterion, Ripple Effect, and Motive. These teams will work together on a Battlefield connected universe that spans multiplayer, single-player, and more.

The new Battlefield game is currently in the pre-alpha stage of development, and there is no word yet on when the game might be released. EA’s next earnings report comes out today, February 4, so it’s possible the company could discuss the military shooter very soon.
