  • A mod for the game was released before the game itself.
  • The mod adds a reticle for bows and crossbows, enhancing gameplay for some players.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 would perhaps have been the biggest launch of the month if Monster Hunter Wilds wasn’t coming out in February as well. Regardless, the game has received rave reviews, even getting five stars in TheGamer’s own review. Fans are now eagerly awaiting the final few hours before the medieval peasant simulator is out.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Review – History In The Making

Henry’s come to see us, again!

While there are still a few hours left, it seems there is already a mod for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 on Nexus Mods. You might be wondering how this is even possible, before the game is even out. Well, it seems someone already knew what they wanted to change about the game from the trailers.

These Mods Were Delivered Too Early

As spotted by VG247, the mod launched yesterday and was created by Timo Schmidt and is called Totally unnecessary Reticle for Bows and Crossbows. As the name suggests, this mod adds a reticle to

Bows and crossbows in the game, even though you don’t really need them. Fair play to Schmidt for the name.

“In [Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2], bows and crossbows are now centered on the screen, making aiming more natural and easier compared to the first game,” says the description of the mod. “While this improved positioning somewhat eliminates the need for a reticle, some players may still find additional assistance useful—whether for accessibility reasons, preference, or simply to smooth out the gameplay. This mod enables the reticle for bows and crossbows through an in-engine command.”

While the new aiming feature does ensure that you don’t need a reticle, and is a bit more immersive than having a floating crosshairs, I can see why some players would prefer to have the reticle when using ranged weapons.

In our review for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, senior video producer Sam Hallahan said, “in almost every way, the RPG that so many fans have been asking for. With Baldur’s Gate 3 taking the world by storm, amidst so many other RPGs that widely missed the mark, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 presents a colossal, in-depth, beautiful, masterfully designed game right at the start of 2025.”
