Dead by Daylight‘s next 2v8 event has been confirmed. Starting from February 10, Dead by Daylight fans will once again be able to play with twice the amount of usual players, this time centred around Resident Evil.

This was confirmed in an interview with TheGamer’s Axel Bosso. Here, game director Mathieu Côté and senior designer Jean Escalante give us some details about what we can expect, confirming that the leaks were accurate.

In the interview, the devs confirm that the mode will run from February 10 to 25, so you won’t have to wait too much longer to play in this limited-time Resident Evil-inspired event.

“What’s really exciting about this one is that we’re theming it all around Resident Evil, so we’re bringing the Mastermind and the Nemesis,” says Escalante. “You can expect to see those two characters as playable Killers.”

He also explained the gameplay differences we can expect when the mode goes live. “On the Mastermind side, he’ll be able to bound one extra time. So right now it’s two in the main game, but he’ll be able to do his little rush power three times.

“And there’s a few additional layers as well. Both the Nemesis and the Mastermind have their virus infections (there’s the T-virus and the Ouroboros). In the normal gameplay of 1v4, there’s only one item for each of them. There’s a first aid spray and a syringe. But now we’ve merged those two together into something called the Antidote. And it’s only when those two killers are in the same match.”

The survivors will get access to green and yellow herbs. Green herbs will heal you, and yellow herbs will remove the cage state. If the killers find them, they get a speed boost.

However, another issue that the devs want to address is the long queue times for those playing as killers. “One thing we’re going to try at the start of this next event is to put bots, two bots in the lobby,” says Escalante. “It’s going to help fill up the survivor lobbies because that’s essentially why it took killers so long to get into a match.”

It remains to be seen if this is enough to address this issue in 2v8. In any case, players won’t have to wait much longer, with the new 2v8 mode starting next Monday.
