Summary
- Project GG, developed by PlatinumGames, has mysteriously disappeared from the company’s website.
- Fans are left questioning if the superhero game is canceled due to a lack of updates and the website removal.
Project GG, the upcoming superhero title from PlatinumGames, has been removed from the developer’s website, leaving fans to wonder if the intriguing project has been canceled. PlatinumGames is well known for its stylish action titles like Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and Nier: Automata. Even before he helped found PlatinumGames in 2006, Hideki Kamiya had his own pedigree with classic Capcom titles like Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, and Okami. Under Platinum, Kamiya helped create high-octane titles like Astral Chain, World of Demons, and the previously mentioned Bayonetta series.
Although Hideki Kamiya left PlatinumGames to reform Clover Studio in 2023, he and the developer he helped create had at least one more project in the works, tentatively titled Project GG. It was first announced in 2020 with a trailer and premise seemingly inspired by Ultraman: a superhero transforms into a giant to battle monsters that threaten a ruined city. PlatinumGames stated that Project GG will be the third chapter in an apparent “hero trilogy” from Kamiya alongside Viewtiful Joe and 2013’s The Wonderful 101.

Ninja Gaiden 4’s PlatinumGames and Team Ninja Collab is an Unexpected But Welcome Surprise
Ninja Gaiden 4 has just been announced, and rather than work alone, Team Ninja is joining forces with PlatinumGames, which a welcome surprise.
Interested gamers have been given very few updates about Project GG since its initial announcement, and a new development has some worried that it might not come out at all. Former PlatinumGames producer Jean Pierre Kellams pointed out that the official PlatinumGames webpage was recently updated to remove references to 13 of its titles, including the ill-fated live-service game Babylon’s Fall and Project GG. It should be noted that web pages for many of the removed games are still active, but the former URL for Project GG now simply redirects to the PlatinumGames homepage.
Project GG Seemingly Removed from PlatinumGames Website
Kellams expressed disappointment in these removals, accusing PlatinumGames of “erasing its history” and saying that he felt insulted as someone who worked on many of the removed titles. Project GG in particular has been cast into question ever since Hideki Kamiya announced his departure from PlatinumGames in late 2023, and he would go on to state that he regrets not being able to see the ambitious project through to completion.
More recently, Kamiya and the revived Clover Studio announced that it is developing a long-awaited Okami sequel during The Game Awards 2024 back in December, a development that seems to have greatly overshadowed Project GG. Meanwhile, PlatinumGames is working with Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja on Ninja Gaiden 4, which was announced during last month’s Xbox Developer Direct and is set to release in fall 2025.
