Not only does this Lenovo Loq gaming laptop deal give you a decent Nvidia GeForce gaming GPU, but it also comes with a solid AMD Ryzen 7 CPU, plus a 1080p screen with a 144Hz refresh rate, and you can currently save $200 off the standard retail price.
It’s the Nvidia GPU that really makes this Lenovo laptop a good deal at this price, though. It’s the same GPU we tested in our Lenovo Legion Slim 5 review, and we’ve found it can handle games such as Total War: Warhammer 3 at 1080p with Ultra settings, while still averaging 72fps. What’s more, it also supports Nvidia DLSS 3 with frame gen, which we found enables it to average 75fps in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p with the ultra ray tracing preset, as long as you enable DLSS Super Resolution on the Quality setting. If you’re prepared to run your games at lower settings you’ll easily be able to enjoy frame rates over 100fps.
It’s also great to see this laptop coming with 16GB (2 x 8GB) of DDR5 RAM, especially when so many budget machines still come with just 8GB. What’s more, the RAM isn’t soldered to the motherboard, and instead comes in SODIMM format, so you can swap it out for 32GB of the best gaming RAM at a later date.
That 15.6-inch screen is a solid inclusion at this price too. Its 1,920 x 1,080 resolution is ideal for the RTX 4060 GPU, meaning you can run games at decent frame rates without having to drop down to a non-native resolution. Meanwhile, its 144Hz refresh rate is fast enough for most people’s needs when it comes to first-person-shooter action. What’s more, the screen even supports Nvidia G-Sync, enabling it to synchronize the refresh rate with the frame rate output of the GPU, putting a stop to distracting tearing artifacts.
Even the CPU is a decent choice, though it doesn’t have quite the same spec you would expect from its model number. Despite having a 7000-series model name, this CPU doesn’t use the Zen 4 architecture used in most AMD Ryzen 7000 chips but is instead based on the older Zen 3+ architecture. Even so, this is fine as a basic foundation for a gaming laptop, giving you eight cores, and a top boost clock of 4.55GHz – it’s much stronger than many CPUs found in budget gaming laptops.
If there’s one complaint it’s that the 512GB SSD doesn’t give you much room for more than a couple of the latest big game installs, but you can’t have everything in a machine at this price. As with the RAM, though you can upgrade the SSD, and you don’t even need to remove the one that’s already in there to add more storage space.
