The Pokémon Company has addressed player concerns regarding the newly introduced trading feature in Pokémon TCG Pocket. This new highly anticipated feature, introduced a few days ago, allowed players to trade cards. However, it has faced backlash from the community, with many fans expressing frustration over high costs, Trade Tokens, and more.
Pokémon TCG Pocket is working on improvements to address these concerns about the trading feature
The Pokémon TCG Pocket team addressed community concerns regarding their trading feature, in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter). Originally announced in November 2024, and finally confirmed its launch, it was highly anticipated by fans. However, all excitement went down the drain as fans expressed dissatisfaction, with many calling it a joke, and criticizing the implementation.
The devs explained that “the item requirements and restrictions implemented for the trading feature were designed to prevent abuse from bots and other prohibited actions using multiple accounts.” However, many fans believe that these measures have ruined the feature for them, arguing that it was done more for monetization rather than stopping bots and other issues.
According to the announcement, the team’s goal was to balance the game and create a fair environment for everyone, but it didn’t work out as they planned. However, The good news is that they are actively working to improve, stating, “We are actively investigating ways to improve the feature to address these concerns.“
The devs have promised to offer free Trade Tokens in various ways
Additionally, they have also promised to introduce multiple ways to obtain trade tokens, including event distributions, allowing you to acquire some for free. If you are unaware, Trade Tokens are like new in-game currency required for trading cards.
However, fans have expressed their frustration over the current system, as acquiring these tokens requires sacrificing a lot of duplicate cards. On top of that, to trade a single good card, you need to get rid of five cards of the same value, which is unreasonable. Moreover, you can’t even communicate in-game for trading.
In my opinion, the devs should implement a level requirement or a minimum account age to counter bots or multiple accounts trading, which can at least slow down the bots abuse, till they find better solutions to improve the system. There’s no point in a trading card game if the main trading system is not worth it.
