Find an unexpected ally once you defeat the Backstabber Mother.
One of these creatures is the deadly Tailspinner Queen – a giant spider that will strike fear into the hearts of arachnophobes everywhere. Short Tongue, your resident Rift Hunter, will be your main point of contact as you attempt to hunt down the troublesome Tailspinner and locate the missing villagers.
How To Start A Wicked Web
Approach the Rift Hunter hut at the Bogmire Forge in The Rift, where you’ll be presented with your choice of bosses to hunt.
Select A Wicked Web to begin hunting a Tailspinner Queen, which has been capturing frogs to feed her hatchlings. Follow Short Tongue two areas to the left.
Along the way, Arlo will pick up a clue about the Tailspinner Queen, alerting you to its fire and electric vulnerabilities if you check the Bestiary.
How To Defeat The Tailspinner Queen
Prepare your weapons and armor for the coming fight, and you’ll come across the Tailspinner Queen in The Mud Flats as she’s capturing another frog.
Waste no time and attack her immediately to strike first and get some free damage. After your attack, prepare for the Tailspinner Queen to lunge upward and slam the ground below.
Parry her attacks indicated by yellow markers if you’re confident, or dodge them and attack her from behind while she recovers.
Avoid the webs she shoots at Arlo as they can ensnare you, leaving you vulnerable for a brief period.
Be careful to avoid the red glowing spots on the floor as she will burrow underground and emerge to deal damage at those locations.
Once you deplete half of her HP, stop attacking as she won’t take any more damage while she retreats. Free the frogs, then pursue the massive Tailspinner to the right until you reach The Whale Boneyard.
How To Beat The Tailspinner Queen Phase Two
Descend the ladder and into the open area, where you’ll encounter the Tailspinner Queen a second time, with half of her HP still missing.
Follow the same patterns she deployed in phase one to reduce her HP to 33 percent, when she’ll flee again, and then free the webbed frogs.
How To Beat The Tailspinner Queen Phase Three
Finally, pursue the Queen to the left and down into her lair, where a few Tailspinner Hatchlings are waiting. Dispatch the Hatchlings, then turn your attention to their Queen.
This is where the battle becomes interesting, as the Tailspinner Queen’s attacks will become more varied, as she capitalizes on the familiarity of her lair.
Avoid the Tailspinner’s poison attacks and capitalize on her dangling above the battlefield by unloading ranged attacks as well as Fire or Electric Elementa attacks.
While you can wait for her to attack you on the ground, it’s far safer to use your ranged attacks here while she’s dangling from her web.
Utilize your dodge to avoid the Queen’s attacks and whittle away at her HP with your Elementa attacks, and she’ll go down after a handful of hits.
