We have another update from Project Arroyo, the fan-made remake of Fallout 2. This time, the devs have some concept art of the revamped Sentry Bots, showing off a much more detailed design for the remake.
This was shared over in the Project Arroyo Discord, with concept artist Shibino completely reimagining how these enemies look for the Fallout 2 remake. They certainly look as menacing as they ought to, as they made for incredibly challenging enemies towards the end of the original game.
How Sentry Bots Have Changed Over The Years
They have appeared in every mainline Fallout game since Fallout 2
This new design differentiates them from the new look they got in later Fallout games, bringing them back to how they looked in Fallout 2. As the games went on, they looked a bit more militaristic and uniform, whereas we’re leaning more into the strange mechanics of the Sentry Bots here, it seems.
For those of you out of the loop, Project Arroyo is a fan-made remake of Fallout 2, created in Fallout 4. This is similar to Fallout: London, which was essentially a new game released as a mod for Fallout 4, but was so ambitious that it even got its own store page on GOG.
Project Arroyo is coming on nicely, having previously shown off the new design for Frank Horrigan, the big final boss in the original game, as well as a look at the new Pip-Boy.

TheGamer’s James Troughton spoke with Project Arroyo’s lead, Damion Daponte, last year, to get some more details on this ambitious fan project. Here, Daponte confirmed that the game will be open-world, will include a version of the random encounters from the original game, and could even be released on Steam.
Of course, there’s a lot of work that needs to go into the game between now and release. Sadly, we recently saw the cancellation of another big Fallout modding project, with Fallout: Nuevo Mexico being scrapped last week.
