Warning: The following contains spoilers for Dragon Ball DAIMA Episode 16, “Degesu”, now streaming on Crunchyroll.

Dragon Ball DAIMA continues to inch closer to a finale as Goku and company finally arrive in the First Demon World, but there are still plenty of obstacles in their path. While many soldiers have been defeated, the elite Gendarmerie Force remains. Majin Kuu and Majin Duu are on the horizon, and Dr. Arinsu’s elaborate plot with Glorio is all falling into place. While he’s become a bit of an afterthought in recent episodes, Supreme Demon King Gomah might finally be able to turn the tables in Dragon Ball DAIMA.

When he first arrived at The Lookout at the start of Dragon Ball DAIMA, Supreme Demon King Gomah seemed like a mysteriously powerful figure. It was his plan that used Shenron to shrink everyone into child-sized bodies, and he was the one (along with Degesu) that kidnapped Dende to further prevent the Dragon Balls from being used to undo their actions. Since that moment, Gomah has felt less and less like the primary threat to Earth’s heroes. Dr. Arinsu and the Majins seemed on course to be the real challenge, but Supreme Demon King Gomah could change everything with The Third Eye. Goku and friends have finally made it to the First Demon World and dispatched most of Gomah’s forces with the help of King Kadan, but the race to rescue Dende and return everyone to their adult bodies continues.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Finally Reaches Dende at Degesu’s Last Stand

Once the dust settles after the Gendarmerie were defeated, Piccolo suggests they get Dende first rather than heading to face the last Tamagami. Supreme Kai agrees, but there’s one problem. Well, five problems. The Gendarmerie Force, living up to their inspiration the Ginyu Force, execute an elaborately extravagant pose sequence only for Vegeta to respond to the start of Captain Kadem’s monologue with “save it.” Hillia steps up to be the first to battle Vegeta, arrogantly proclaiming he’ll take care of this “brat” before firing a homing laser blast with his rocket launcher that, thanks to Vegeta’s lightning speed, gets redirected right back at Hillia. Danima and Mashim are next up only to quickly get knocked back down, and Gaimoi suggests these might actually be the guys that beat Majin Buu and the Tamagamis. Captain Kadem attempts to attack Vegeta with his sword, but he’s also downed with a single punch.

Realizing how outmatched they are at this point, Kadem suggests they try “that attack” before charging and firing a basketball-sized fireball at Vegeta’s feet that doesn’t faze the Saiyan in the slightest. Kadem then charges up a boulder-sized fireball as the others begin to coordinate an attack, but Danima’s attempt to get into position doesn’t last long. Vegeta, moving so quickly he isn’t even visible, knocks away Danima’s weapon and hits Kadem so hard that his hand begins glowing red and throbbing. The fireball itself crashes aimlessly into the ground without harming anyone, and King Kadem’s troops quickly detain the Gendarmerie Force. Goku, sensing Dende’s ki nearby, runs off to find him along with Vegeta, Piccolo, and Supreme Kai. Elsewhere, the girl that Degesu enlisted to retrieve The Third Eye from Hybis in the last episode of Dragon Ball DAIMA is wandering around the palace trying to get paid.

Goku and friends finally reach an airplane departure bay where Degesu is trying to escape with Dende, and his response to their arrival is to immediately hold a gun to the baby in his arms. Degesu, just like Arinsu, wants to become Supreme Demon King himself. Panzy manages to almost sneak up on him with an electrified flyswatter, but Hybis’s yellow hat suddenly flies through the air right into Degesu. Dende goes flying, but thankfully Panzy catches him safely. Everyone glances over to realize Glorio is the one who saved Dende, and Degesu is also soon detained by King Kadan’s forces. Using his magic viewing screen, Supreme Demon King Gomah has been watching all of this and is thrilled the traitorous Degesu failed. Just as Gomah begins to panic over what he’ll do next, the girl who traded a hat gifted by her ex to get this gross belt shows up asking to be paid. Gomah is ecstatic when he realizes The Third Eye is finally in his grasp.

Outside, the group heads to Tamagami Number One (at Glorio’s suggestion) only for Panzy to realize the Demon Realm Dragon Ball is missing. Dr. Arinsu, Majin Kuu, and Majin Duu slowly walk into the courtyard towards them. Glorio may be feigning surprise to keep up the charade, but he seems to be genuinely concerned by Arinsu’s arrival. Back inside the palace, Gomah frantically tries to get The Third Eye out of the belt before finally succeeding with a plunger. While she’s reluctant until extra payment is offered, Gomah enlists the girl to place The Third Eye in the middle of his forehead. It takes multiple pushes to get it to stick, but once it finally settles, Gomah becomes overwhelmed by the power and begins to change. As the girl makes her exit with a pile of treasure, Gomah’s transformation significantly increases his size. Now imbued with the same power Abura once had that kept even Dabura at bay, Supreme Demon King Gomah may suddenly be the most dangerous villain in Dragon Ball DAIMA.
