Sniper Elite: Resistance will have players seeking out specifically marked Nazi offers for the majority of the campaign missions. Each of these targets can be killed in a specific way to complete a Kill Challenge. Completing these challenges often comes with a form of reward. Kill Challenges such as these are present in several games from the Sniper Elite franchise.
Hermann Gottschalk is the Kill Challenge for mission 8. This makes him the final Kill Challenge players will need to complete. Players will need to kill him using a gas explosion. This condition can be accomplished in 2 different ways. The first needs to have him in the right place at the right time. The other will need the player to have unlocked one of the alternate starting points.

Where to Start in End of the Line
Players should first unlock the Eastern Rail Yard starting location for this mission. This can be found near the northern part of the mission map. If this is the player’s first time playing this map, set the difficulty to Civilian and run to the marked point.
Then leave the mission, set the game back to your difficulty of choice, and start the mission again. Players will be able to get the Kill Challenge for this mission without alerting any enemies and without taking a single shot using this starting location. Trying from the other starting locations means players will need to bring some good weapons with them.
How to Kill Hermann Gottschalk with a Gas Explosion in Sniper Elite: Resistance
Once the mission begins, run along the right wall. Stay close to avoid any enemies spotting you. You can sprint freely until you reach the outer outline of the yellow circle. There is a single guard here that can make things problematic. Either they will spot you, or trying to avoid them leads to other guards spotting you.
It is best to crouch and look for the moving light. Melee kill this guard. It doesn’t matter if they turn red. So long as they don’t fire any shots, other guards will not be alerted. Once they have been dealt with, continue to head south, and you will pass a crane. Make sure you are crouching to reduce visibility and head between the metal stairs and the steam engine.
Keep heading straight, and you will find a small white house. On the opposite side of this house will be a red valve. Interact with this valve, and it will cause pressure to build up in the gas pipe. This will cause Hermann to run up to it, where it will explode shortly after. Players will complete their Kill Challenge with a brutal explosive kill, and they can make a save to continue the mission without any enemies having been alerted.
