Time-Space Smackdown has introduced six new supporter cards into the meta, most of which have impactful abilities. Half of these supporters are tailored for specific decks with varying levels of effectiveness, while the other half can be used in any deck type.

You’ll be very lucky to pull any of these cards.

Many of the new supporters share elements with older cards but feature their own unique twists. Pokemon Pocket is now at a point where the abundance of strong supporters and limited deck space make choosing which cards to include a difficult decision. At the very least, securing the top two supporter cards from Time-Space Smackdown would be a wise investment.

Cynthia

Complimentary Cards

Togekiss, Garchomp

Pack

Palkia

Surpassing Genetic Apex’s Blaine as the strongest attack buff card, Cynthia’s 50-damage boost is impressive on paper. Unfortunately, Cynthia doesn’t synergize with any particularly powerful cards. Togekiss can deal significant damage with consecutive attacks, but its low initial output means it will likely take too much damage before reaching its full potential.

Gible and Gabite perform well for their stages, but Garchomp lacks the damage needed to be a strong Stage 2 boss monster. While Garchomp’s ability speeds up card draw, drawing—especially in the late game of Pokemon Pocket—is far less impactful than in most other TCGs. Given Cynthia’s massive reputation as a powerful trainer, her lackluster ability is a disappointment.

Team Galactic Grunt

Complimentary Cards

Toxicroak, Skuntank, Weezing

Pack

Dialga

Card searching is a powerful mechanic, and Team Galactic Grunt functions almost like extra Pokeballs, helping players reach their win condition faster. However, the main drawback is that Team Galactic Grunt’s win condition isn’t particularly strong. The ability to fetch additional monsters aligns with Toxicroak’s strategy of amassing a high monster count, but it’s uncertain whether Toxicroak is strong enough to build a deck around.

Pokemon Pocket: How To Trade

Here’s a complete guide to the trading system in Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket.

As a Stage 1 evolution requiring two energy, Toxicroak must land three out of four heads to deal 120 damage—generally the minimum needed to threaten EX monsters. However, it also has a chance of dealing no damage at all. While Purugly and Skuntank can be searched with Team Galactic Grunt, they provide no meaningful synergy with Toxicroak.

4

Volkner

Complimentary Cards

Electivire, Space-Time Smackdown Electabuzz, Luxray

Pack

Dialga

Electabuzz has received another buff with its Space-Time Smackdown version, which can generate energy. Electivire deals an extra 80 damage if it reaches four energy. Normally, 120 damage for four energy isn’t ideal, but Volkner provides an additional two energy, making the setup much more viable. If you draw Electabuzz, Electivire, and Volkner, you can have a 120-attack-power Pokémon by your second turn.

Electabuzz also pairs well with Lt. Surge, giving it four supporter cards that can provide additional energy. Additionally, Volkner synergizes with Luxray, a Pokemon with burst potential similar to Genetic Apex Raichu.

3

Mars

Complimentary Cards

Any

Pack

Palkia

Controlling your opponent’s hand is a powerful strategy in most card games. Red Card was a decent option in Genetic Apex, though its overall impact has been widely debated. Mars serves as an improved version of Red Card, scaling more effectively as your opponent scores points.

If your opponent has two points, Mars can completely cripple their hand. Not only do they lose all their cards, but being left with only one option could secure your victory. The biggest downside is that in many situations, an opponent will have already used their entire hand to gain those two points, limiting Mars’ effectiveness.

2

Cyrus

Complimentary Cards

Rocky Helmet, Articuno, Zebstrika, Greninja

Pack

Palkia

Sabrina may have been the best supporter card from Genetic Apex, but Cyrus could be her rightful successor. Cyrus grants full control over which Pokemon can be pulled into action, provided the target has already taken bench damage. This makes cards that hit the bench, such as Articuno and Zebstrika, valuable for setting up high-impact control plays later.

Who needs a potion when you have these extraordinary Pokemon that can heal themselves?

One of the most crucial aspects of Pokemon Pocket is knowing when to retreat. Cyrus serves as a direct counter to decks that rely on high-HP EX monsters for stalling. Celebi EX and Mewtwo EX often hide behind durable cards like Exeggutor EX and Mew EX, but Cyrus forces opponents to rethink that strategy.

1

Dawn

Full Art Dawn Pokemon TCG Pocket Space Time Smackdown Card Art.

Complimentary Cards

Moltres, Mew, Manaphy

Pack

Dialga

Dawn is the supporter with the strongest potential to become a staple. As an energy reallocation card, Dawn provides invaluable utility in a game centered around resource management. Nearly every deck can benefit from her effect. Whether you invested in the wrong monster early or need to make a tactical retreat, Dawn ensures your new active Pokemon won’t fall a full turn behind.

Many decks in Pokemon Pocket lack the luxury of a proper energy battery, and Dawn helps improve the viability of otherwise noncompetitive builds. Additionally, she fits seamlessly into decks that already excel at energy generation, such as those built around Misty, Vaporeon, Lt. Surge, and Moltres.
