If Alien: Isolation and Alan Wake can get one, it must be LA Noire’s turn soon.
It seems Absurd Ventures is finally ready to reveal what it has been working on, although it’s pretty vague. The studio has revealed ‘Absurdaverse’, which seems more like an umbrella category under which the studio will release multiple titles.
Frankly Absurd
“A very first look at just a few characters from the Absurdaverse. Prepare to meet some new kinds of heroes (and watch them suffer),” says the announcement on Absurd Ventures’ blog. “More information to come this year about the first animation projects and about our original story-driven action-comedy adventure game set in the Absurdaverse, now in development at Absurd Ventures.”
Along with this was shared an image depicting a number of characters that we assume will be starring in this universe. They range from what look like everyday hipsters, to a business executive, a steampunk inventor, a guy that looks like an old Tommy Vercetti, and even a skeletal viking.
From the announcement, it seems these characters are going to “suffer” through some ordeals which they didn’t sign up for. That’s about the only information that was revealed about the Absurdaverse, but it looks like we might learn more later this year. More info is also coming about the studio’s other two projects, A Better Paradise and American Caper.
Houser was partly responsible for almost every game that Rockstar put out, being credited as a writer and producer on games like GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. While no apparent reason was given for Dan Houser’s departure, it seems he’s finally ready to get back in the swing of things with this latest project, which was referred to as a “story-driven action-comedy adventure game”
It’s clear that Absurd Ventures has put out a few projects already, but the Absurdaverse seems to be its first foray into video game development.
