The Ghost Train

A Spectral Train of Rhodes Provides Lost Souls With a Ride

  • How to Find the Ghost Train: Wait on the train tracks at the entrance of Lemoyne at 3 AM.

In the North-West area of the state of Lemoyne, right beside the entry sign that welcomes new riders into the state, players might come across some abandoned train tracks in the early hours of the morning at around 2-3 AM, where perhaps their horse’s sixth sense might make it shudder in unease as the whistle of a ghostly train passes on by.

The Ghost Train of Lemoyne hoots through the tracks, passing right through Arthur Morgan as its only witnessing rider. The pale spectral image of the train shoots past the tracks, and its crying wail from the train horn indicates lost souls still on board as they try to find a home.

While there is no lore about the Ghost Train that can be explored, finding it among the tracks of Rhodes will have Arthur Morgan question the whiskey he’s drinking, and it’s a surefire reminder to perhaps stay off the tracks when riding a horse, or to maybe not ride around at 3 AM?

General Quincy T. Harris & His Soldiers

A Confederate General’s Cowardice is Immortalized Through His Dead Soldiers’ Whispers

  • How to Find the Confederacy Ghost: Explore Bolger Glade in Scarlet Meadows at 12-4 AM, during a thunder storm.

East of Braithwaite Manor in Lemoyne, players can uncover Bolger Glade, the ruins of the Battle of Scarlet Meadows from 1864, where General Quincy T. Harris ordered his men to fight for the Confederacy during the Civil War. Harris might be seen as a hero among the people of Lemoyne, but the battle still took many lives, and those souls lost still lurk on the battlefield all those years later.

If Arthur ventures to Bolger Glade, they will hear the whispers of ghosts that were victims of General Quincy T. Harris’s plans, and their souls now remain trapped here in an eternal and unseen battle, where Harris has a legacy untouched and untainted by the truth of General Harris and his soldiers from the battle all those years ago.

Harris was war-hungry, and every man in the battle was forced out of a defensive position to fight for Harris, pushing them to destroy the opposition, no matter how many lives were lost. Harris forced his men to attack, all while he retreated. With so many dead, it’s a shame that these ghosts don’t even know it, and while they can only be heard and not seen, the fact that they live an eternity of agony in the same battle, it’s a stark reminder that war is Hell.

The identity of Jack Marston’s real father has been a hotly debated theory for years in the Red Dead Redemption community, but who are the suspects?

In fact, the story of Eugene and Ethel can be told through a cartoon show in Valentine, The Ghostly Serenade.

Agnes Dowd

The Ghost Girl of the Swamp Who is Unable to Pass On

  • How to Find the Ghost Girl: Explore Bluewater Marsh, Lemoyne, in Foggy weather at 11-4 AM

While most ghosts in Red Dead Redemption 2 are simply whispers of the dead, the actual physical manifestation of a ghost can be seen in the Bluewater Marshes of Lemoyne, where late at night amidst the fog, Agnes Dowd calls to her lover, and cries out into the long and cold night from the swamps of Lemoyne, never reaching peace nor salvation in this glowing spectral form.

In the graveyard at Shady Belle, Arthur can uncover the grave of Agnes Dowd, a young woman who took her own life, along with others in 1883. Agnes’ story is explained through 16 unique encounters in the Bluewater Marsh, with more details unveiled through spoken memories throughout the swamp. Be warned, getting too close to Agnes will see her disappear, but who would want to approach a literal ghost in the swamp anyway, even with a gun in hand?

Agnes Dowd has a haunting story, in which she fell in love with a married man – and fall hard she did. Agnes wanted the man, his marriage, and his child, but this was just an affair that would result in heartbreak. Agnes soon gave birth to the married man’s son. With her sanity on a steep decline, it’s expected that Agnes killed her father, her lover, and her son, and then hung herself at the same tree where she first fell in love. Witnessing the story of this tragic ghost girl is terrifying, especially when the final encounter witnesses Agnes’ ghostly corpse swinging by the rope from a dead tree, after beckoning Arthur forward with her calming voice.
