This Gudetama was warped by TOPHAT’s magic somehow, and every week, it’s up to the player to find where this strange little guy has traveled off to. This guide explains what you must do to start ‘The Laziest Egg’ and offers some tips on how to find the Tophat Gudetama to complete this weekly quest.
How To Start ‘The Laziest Egg’ Quest
To start ‘The Laziest Egg’, players must first complete the preliminary quest ‘Gudetama Snap’. After getting the Camera, you must take a picture of the Gudetama that Pochacco points out to complete this quest. Then, you must take a total of six Gudetama pictures before ‘The Laziest Egg’ quest unlocks.
You can do this before unlocking the Yellow Power Crystal quest, but you may need Flippers or a Snorkel to find the Tophat Gudetama each week.
Once you have found 6x Gudetama, talk to Pochacco and he will tell you about a strange Gudetama that wears a strange tophat. He will ask you to look for this strange Gudetama location and take a picture if you find it.
‘The Laziest Egg’ is a weekly quest that you can pick up again and again, but the Gudetama’s location will change every week.

And How To Find The Tophat Gudetama Every Week
When you pick up ‘The Laziest Egg’ the quest pop-up will briefly display an image of the Gudetama you are looking for – a Gudetama with a mustache who is sitting down and wearing a purple, extravagant tophat. The Tophat Gudetama location is not set in stone – every Sunday night, it will appear in a different location for the week.
For example, for the week of January 27, 2025 to February 2, 2025, the Tophat Gudetama can be found on the Mount Hothead Dock.
- If you have the Flippers unlocked (by progressing Keroppi’s Friendship to Level 2), you can simply swim almost exactly north-west from the main Seaside Resort island to reach Mount Hothead (and find Retsuko’s location, too).

You can also run all the way around the island chain through the Spooky Swamp and the Gemstone Mountain to reach Mount Hothead on foot.
- You must complete the quest ‘Power Up The Gate’ to access the rest of the island.
To get this Tophat Gudetama, Hello Kitty Island Adventure players should walk to the southeastern corner of the Mount Hothead landmass to find the Dock (which is visible on the map, too). Head to the very end of the dock to find this Tophat Gudetama.

Tips To Find The Tophat Gudetama Location Every Week
During the week of February 3, 2025 to February 9, 2025, the Tophat Gudetama will move, and you won’t find it on the Mount Hothead dock anymore. Every week after, the Tophat Gudetama will move to a completely new spot.
Because the quest resets its location every seven days, and rarely repeats the same location twice, use these tips to find the Tophat Gudetama location every week:
- The Tophat Gudetama will always appear sitting down, with a mustache, and wearing a purple, oversized tophat – it will not appear in other poses, unlike other Gudetama.
- Keep an eye out for its distinctive purple tophat in areas without purple coloration…
- …and look for its egg-yolk-colored body in areas with a lot of purple, which makes it harder to see his hat.
- Gudetama are never hidden completely behind objects or scenery, like buildings or overhanging landmasses. They are always visible from the default camera angle.
When you find the Tophat Gudetama, take a selfie with the cute Sanrio character, then return to Pochacco to complete ‘The Laziest Egg’ weekly quest. Every time you complete this weekly quest, you will be rewarded with a random Gudetama-related Crafting Recipe.
