Pokemon TCG Pocket loves to give Water-types every drop of support. The Space-Time Smackdown set reels it in a bit by showing some of the other underrated types some attention. However, Water-types still get their fair share of additional Pokemon and effects that help maintain the supremacy of the type.

With more ways to hit the Bench, apply Status Effects, and even accelerate Energy, there is no stopping the oncoming waves that Water-types can dish out. To top it all off, the typing also receives one devastating ex Pokemon to add to their ranks. So which Pokemon makes the biggest splash?
10
Finneon
Protection From Damage And Effects
Finneon is one of the more evasive Pokemon in the Space-Time Smackdown lineup. This makes it an interesting pre-evolution for Lumineon since it can also stall the game. Finneon may not have much HP, but its Elegant Swim can help it survive longer if you land on heads.
An interesting interaction that Finneon has on the game is if you go first and manage to get some Energy on it and manage to attack. It’s not the greatest use of a Misty, but if you land on heads, your opponent won’t be able to hit it during their first turn if they went second.
9
Snover
Striking Back Against Fighting-types
The Abomasnow line is mostly buffed out with few effects, despite getting expensive once you reach that Stage one Pokemon. Good thing for Energy acceleration. However, the more interesting of the two Pokemon in this line is Snover.

This Basic Pokemon is a deterrent for Fighting-type Pokemon since it hits them for an additional 30 damage on top of any Weaknesses they may have. With Fighting-types getting support with Lucario, it’s good to see Water-types trying to even the playing field. This Pokemon also has a Weakness to Steel, which has become more common with this set.
8
Mamoswine
Fire-types Beware
Pokemon TCG Pocket does not use Resistance for their Pokemon, only Weaknesses. Mamoswine, on the other hand, has an unofficial Resistance due to its Thick Fat Ability. In fact, it has two instead of one.
Mamoswine takes 30 less damage from both Fire and Water Pokemon. The fact that it can do so while also having a hefty sum of HP to start with makes it a nightmare for Fire-type decks to handle since Mamoswine often also hits for Weakness. Even its previous form, Piloswine, has a similar Ability.
7
Empoleon
A Dual Hitter
Pokemon often have three choices. They can either hit the Bench for a decent amount, hit the Pokemon in front of them, or deal a serviceable amount towards your opponent’s Active Pokemon and just one damage counter to everything else. Empoleon finds a fresh balance in between.

Can the flip of a single coin can truly decide a match? With these powerful moves, almost certainly.
Empoleon can hit your opponent for 80 damage head-on. Meanwhile, one of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon gets slapped with 30 damage as well. This combination can put your opponent in a bind as their reserves get weakened without being in front.
6
Floatzel
The Fastest Swimmer
If your strategy is to attack before anyone else gets the chance to do so, then Floatzel can do so for only one Energy. Jet Screw has a base damage of 30 but can do an additional 30 more if you land the coin flip.
This is the most damage you will be able to do for one Energy as far as Water-types in the set go, even if you need to flip for it. Since many Basic Pokemon have 60 HP, this is also your best chance of taking them down without relying on drawing into Giovanni.
5
Regice
Evading Pesky Effects
There are plenty of Pokemon throughout the game that have additional effects besides damage. Some lock you in place, others make you discard Energy, and some cause Status Effects. Regice has protection from all these additional effects.

This is due to its Clear Body Ability, which protects it. Sure, you still take damage from Moves, but now your opponent will have to rely on their raw damage or Trainer Card effects just to get rid of it. It is one of the better Regi cards found in Space-Time Smackdown.
4
Gastrodon
A Budget-Friendly Alternative To Empoleon
Gastrodon may have a similar purpose as Empoleon, but it has its perks. For starters, using Gastrodon takes up less space in your deck. It can also hit the field faster for when you want to start smacking your opponent.
Despite having a higher Retreat Cost and less HP, Muddy Water is more flexible on the Energy it uses. While the cost is still three to attack, it only requires one of those Energy to be Water. It is also a more common card to pull, making it better for budget decks.
3
Glaceon
Freezing The Competition
Straight from the Sinnoh Region, Glaceon is here to give Eevee yet another Evolution within the Water-type gallery. However, it also comes with a well-balanced Status Effect combo Move. This is because Ice Beam can do a decent 60 damage while also flipping to Paralyze.

Paralysis is one of the better stun mechanics in the game since it locks down Retreats and Move usage. Glaceon is also swift, with a Retreat Cost of one. It’s the year of Eevee and Glaceon is ready to become part of some stun decks.
2
Palkia Ex
Rest In Peace, Articuno Ex
Without Energy acceleration, Palkia would be too slow. However, with the combined effects of Misty, Manaphy, Vaporeon, and Dawn keeping the pumps going, Palkai can easily recover from Dimensional Storm’s discard.
Palkia ex can do a whopping 150 damage in a single blow. In addition to this, it also hits every Pokemon on the Bench for 20. This completely blows Articuno ex out of the water with one massive attack that has a better chance of knocking out whatever is in front of it while devastating the board.
1
Manaphy
The King Of The Sea
Manaphy doesn’t have any attacks. While it cannot defend itself, Oceanic Gift allows it to give away Energy to other Water-types waiting on the Bench. This is a more reliable method of Energy acceleration since all you need is to use the Move instead of waiting on coin flips.
It’s better than Palkia ex simply because Palkia and every other Water-type needs Manaphy on the Active Spot at the start of the match. It can also target two Pokemon to benefit from the Energy instead of just one.
