SYNDUALITY: Echo of Ada asks a lot of its players, but it also provides plenty of opportunity to succeed if you plan your runs carefully. Rather than going in aimlessly, it helps to have a general target, whether it’s a specific request or resource you are looking to acquire. One of the main targets players will want to keep an eye out for is the bright purple and orange AO Crystal deposits scattered around the map.
Your AO Excavator is one of the most important tools at your disposal, since it will enable you to mine AO Crystals — one of the most valuable resources in the game. While not every run will require players to bring back AO Crystals, most of them will. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that your excavator is able to mine all available crystals so you won’t miss out on a big payday. Some crystal deposits won’t be accessible to lower level Excavators, but fortunately, you can craft upgrades in order to mine them.

How To Upgrade The AO Excavator
Your AO Excavator will appear as an equippable item beneath weapons in the main Sortie Prep menu. Much like the weapons in the game, the Excavator is upgraded by a leveling system (+1, +2m etc.) and there is only one type of Excavator available. In order to upgrade it, you will first need to complete a number of requests until the higher levels become available. The upgrading process itself can be done in the Crafting sub-menu once the blueprints have been unlocked.

Various components will be required in order to upgrade it, but first, you will need to have either a spare Excavator at hand or unequip your main Excavator so that it is in your inventory. Until you do so, it will not show up as available in the crafting screen. You can acquire a new or spare Excavator either by finding one from a fallen player or purchasing one from the Item Shop. The basic Excavator is free, much like the Jack Cradle items, so you don’t need to worry about saving up to get a new one.
How To Find The Required Materials
The first level of AO Excavator will require players to have a spare Excavator along with 3x Shield Paint. This relatively common material can be found in many of the more industrial areas of the game, such as the Agricultural Plant in the Northern Zone or the Wharf in the Southern Zone.

The next level of Excavator will require players to obtain 3 Grade A Resonators, which are a little more complicated to get. These are much rarer, but can still be found primarily in the Southern Zone. You can mark these items on your Wishlist in the Crafting menu, which will then highlight areas where the materials can often be found on the map. In addition, your Magus will also point out areas where these materials are present whenever you come across them in the game world. This can be a great help for targeting specific materials and making your runs more efficient overall.
