That said, for as long-awaited the feature was, it entered the game with more of a whimper than a bang, largely due in part to the restrictions put in place. For example, trades can only take place between friends, and they also consume two different kinds of currency, of which one is particularly hard to come by. Oh, and not every card can be traded, with only those with a rarity of between one and four diamonds, along with one-star rarity cards part of the feature.
As a result, fans soon began to rally against the feature, with some calling it “predatory and downright greedy,” among other negative impressions. Flash forward to today, and TCG Pocket has broken its silence, with a promise to make things better in the near future.
TCG Pocket Will Address The Feedback In Future Updates
In a post shared to Twitter, the official TCG Pocket account affirmed that it has received large amounts of feedback about the trading feature since its launch earlier this week, which the company appreciates.
First and foremost, the restrictions put in place, as well as the item requirements, were implemented “to prevent abuse,” per the statement, including usage of bots or account spoofing.
“Our goal was to balance the game while maintaining a fair environment for all players and preserving the fun of collecting cards that is core to the Pokémon TCG Pocket experience,” the statement read.
Despite that, the company recognizes that the guidelines put in place are “preventing players from being able to casually enjoy the feature as intended.” Moving forward, TCG Pocket is “actively investigating” ways to improve the core feature, including offering multiple avenues to earning trade tokens, such as via events.
At this moment, it’s unclear exactly how soon any changes will come to the game. At the same time, based off the statement, it doesn’t sound like trade tokens, a key point of contention, are going away anytime soon. Rather, they’ll seemingly be offered more routinely. Ultimately, only time will tell how things are rectified, but, at the very least, the company is aware of the negativity surrounding a central feature.
