- Niantic announced the return of Hoopa Unbound for a Raid Day event in February, offering players a chance to capture a powerful Pokemon.
A Pokemon GO player was incredibly lucky to find and catch an Azelf shiny with perfect IVs with Daily Incense. Pokemon GO players encounter a variety of pocket monsters every day. But while some critters appear frequently, others are so rare that many players have yet to catch them.
Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie were added to the augmented reality game in 2019 and turned into some of the rarest Pokemon GO encounters. Finding the Sinnoh Legendary trio is not a simple task for two reasons; the first is regional limitations, as each Pokemon appears in a different region. The second catch is that seeing one of the Lake Trio is extremely rare, as they have very low spawn rates. But one player recently defied the odds and shared their incredible encounter with one of these elusive monsters.

Pokemon GO Reveals February Raid Day Plans
Pokemon GO reveals February’s Raid Day with the return of a powerful Pokemon, and details what players can expect from the event.
Redditor Waste-Land4591 had the incredible luck of catching a shundo Azelf with Daily Incense. In the post, they show the Pokemon captured on January 26 that draws attention for having perfect stats, and for being shiny, becoming what the Pokemon GO community has refers to as a shundo. Another impressive detail is the CP 2981, indicating that not only is this Azelf incredibly strong, but it is close to the maximum CP possible for the Psychic-type, which is above 3500, making this catch even more incredible.
How to Find Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie in Pokemon GO
Pokemon GO players in the Americas and Greenland can find Azelf, while Mesprit’s appearance occurs only in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India. Uxie, on the other hand, is found exclusively in the Asia-Pacific region. As well as being available in the wild, the creatures have already been given as GO League rewards, most recently in February 2024. They have also appeared in Timed Research released during the Pokemon GO Tour: Sinnoh, and in raid battles, most recently last year. Pokemon GO players can find the lake trio in shiny form, although this encounter is even rarer considering their low occurrence.
While Pokemon GO players wait for a lucky encounter like the one the OP managed, Niantic has confirmed that another equally powerful critter is soon returning to the game. A Raid Day featuring Hoopa Unbound, the real form of the Mythical Pokemon from Kalos, has been announced. The event will take place in February, marking the first time Hoopa Unbound has been available in Niantic’s augmented reality game since its last appearance in the Elite Raids in December 2022.
